When we arrived in the middle of the day, the sign on the door said closed as there was no volunteer, though there was a person sitting in the office who ignored the people outside, so I am not sure how this works, I know it is difficult if you are operating solely with volunteers, there are street maps posted on the window,so we used these to get our bearings around town

Everything we needed to know
Feb 2018 • Couples
Friendly and informative staff. Tucked in the corner of a strip mall so you have to really be looking for it. Plenty of free maps and coupon books, plus other more detailed maps for sale. The freebies, plus our phones Google Maps, got us around the island for our 15 days there.

Helpful locals
Feb 2017
Right in the heart of the downtown Kailua, they were very helpful and interested in gaining knowledge from where you are visiting from and about your hometown.

Kailua Is A Great Place To Retire
Dec 2015 • Couples
So why don't you start that adventure with someone who knows. Hawaii is very friendly to retirees. As far as the state government is concerned you've done your share so now it's time to coast. Real Estate taxes are calculated as dollars per thousand not dollars per hundred. Talk about something huge. Then, the cost of living on Oahu isn't bad as long as you shop smart.

Kailua is the Upscale Capital of Windward. No, it's not posh, but it's comfortable with homes most can relate to. Carports not garages are the norm, and square footages are reasonable. Sounds like I'm talking myself into something doesn't it? If so, I want a solar water heater and a propane stove for economy.

Need Info? This is the place
Mar 2016 • Friends
Manned by volunteers, this is a great place to find info on anything you want/need to know in Kailua. You may even get little known facts from these long time local residents.

Looking for information for biking
Jul 2016 • Friends
The gentleman at the desk had no idea about biking, wanted to show us a map of Kailua. He kept trying to give us maps about things we weren't interested in. We just moved here and wanted to do non tourist types of things. He was just into the tourist.
