Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stopped at this war memorial years ago on a previous visit. Since we were here for the 80th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, paying our respects to the heroes from the Waialua- Kahuku area of Oahu, was in order. Dedication plaques for WWII, Korea, & Vietnam. First dedicated in 1947. A well maintained, white obelisk ringed by small stucco wall, a chain, with a grassy area, is a fitting tribute. (T.A. may wish to edit their notation above stating; Located on Kauai, not Oahu, oops.)

Located on the outskirts of Haleiwa Town , just on the Ocean side of the Highway. Nice memory for the fallen Veterans of WWII from Waialua and Haleiwa - dedicated by the Local Chapter of the Lions Club. For being exposed to all the harsh weather elements - it is well maintained.

This simple memorial sits somewhat incongruously in the parking area for Haleiwa Beach Park. The approximately 20-foot-tall Art Deco column has bronze tablets on three sides (the forth side is currently blank) listing the names of service members killed during World War II, Korea War, and Vietnam War from "Waialua-Kahuku" (basically the hamlets that span Oahu's North Shore). The memorial sits in the center of a small circular grass lawn separated from the parking area by a short concrete wall.
On our visit, we found the memorial to be respectfully maintained, but also pretty much ignored by the folks here mainly to enjoy the beach. However, it is perhaps fitting that these men who gave their lives in service to their country have a memorial in a place where people come to exercise some of the freedoms that they so dearly paid to protect.

Aside from it being a thoughtful memorial, this is a great place to stop on the North Shore if you want to see turtles. Just hop over the wall and you can normally see a few eating in the water. I have noticed there tends to be some vendors selling things out of their cars there. I've always kept my distance...just a heads up.

While waiting for the sun to lower in the sky, we came over and looked at this memorial. Very tastefully done.

Unexpected find that is located in the parking lot of the Hale'iwa Beach Park. This memorial is dedicated to those Waialua-Kahuku people who gave their life in WWII so others may live. Dedicated July 4, 1947. It is a white obelisk topped with a translucent material. The concrete pathway is femced with whatlooks like 5" rounds and connected with chain. Worth a stop and photo. The beach is nice also.

Large mainly vacant parking lot, nice monument which will make you reflect on the history of Oahu and our fallen patriots. Worth a moment of your time.

Small beach not worthy your time. The sand is not bad but the water isn't the usual crystal clear. A parking lot is located at the back of the beach. Restrooms and showers.
There is a park at the back of the beach for those who like. No food spots in the nearby.
