I was fortunate to spend a nice afternoon jumping off the cliff at Shipwreck Beach. While doing this, I encountered a few issues that you should know if you intend to make the jump yourself. I began the day by snorkeling underneath the cliff jumping...More

Its a beach. Its on the ocean. It has sand and waves, but it also has coral and isn't a great beach for swimming, surfing, or snorkeling. There are many better beaches on the island. That said, it is right at the Hyatt with access...More

Great beach as it’s not at all crowded. Locals surf and boogie board. Heavy undertow so don’t go out far.

Beautiful secluded beach. Very serene and relaxing. You can really enjoy the sunrise at this beautiful location. It’s so quiet. The rocks on the beach actually make a thunder sound when the waves recede. Just magical!

It’s a great beach, but beware of the rough waters and rocks in the water. If you’re lucky you will see a monk seal resting on the rocks. Do not approach -it is forbidden. There are plenty of large turtles feeding on the plentiful moss...More

You can hike up the cliff where the view is spectacular. It is a safe climb (my husband and I are mid-sixties) but there have been many accidents with people jumping off the cliff into the water below. We climbed it twice and were able...More

Love visiting shipwreck beach to swim, snorkel, hike and if you’re brave enough go jumping off cliffs into sea at north end of beach. The trailhead is also located at north end of beach to explore the coastline heading north. Grand Hyatt is located on...More

Go early to hike and then enjoy the beach closer to cliff away from all the tourists and watch so dumb cliff jumpers!

This beach is near the Poipu Bay golf course. We weren’t staying in Poipu so we found it by accident. If you’re staying here it will be near your hotel. Things to like: not too big or crowded and a very pleasant tree shaded lawn...More

This was a beach with big waves - we only watched the waves and the sunset at this beach...no swimming for us on the day we were cautious but a few were surfing and boarding.

We stayed at the grand Hyatt resort and visited shipwreck beach. It has huge waves so you really can’t swim in it. We saw monk seals resting on the beach which was pretty awesome in itself. I highly recommend it

If you are beach hopping on Kauai, it's worth a quick stop, but there are plenty of other prettier beaches.

Agree. Poipu Beach. Keep in mind the currents do change so ask the life guards for safety information. It's usually posted but the lifeguards are so open to communicating information.

Drive past the Hyatt and take the road to the right between the Hyatt and the golf course. Shipwreck Beach parking lot is at the end.

I'm sorry I can't help you. We went as a hiking group from Vancouver Island and were self directed. I didn't notice any guided groups of hikers.
