Even though there was an island wide high surf advisory, only small swells at Lawa'i. We rented equipment at Snorkel Bob's in Koloa. The entry is rocky, however, at low tide, entry/exit at the middle is pretty good. There are several spots towards The Beach...More

There is some good snorkeling at Lawai Beach, but it's also a popular spot for snorkeling newbies and sometimes can feel a bit crowded because there isn't a lot of sandy beach. Also lots of lava rock, which can be navigated, but be careful. An...More

Stayed just across the street and snorkeled here several times without disappointment. Lawai has some of the clearest water on Kauai and is home to some amazing tropical fish. We've previously seen a couple of sea turtle and on our final day on this trip...More

Lawa’i beach is an excellent place for snorkeling with lots of fish swimming right next to you. Public toilets are right next to the beach. Beach is quite warm and there’s a small area for keeping your stuff and lying down. Currents are strong, so...More

I was impressed with the variety of fish I encountered, and there were so many of them. You don't have to go out all that far to see them, either. The one problem I had was getting out far enough to see things. The waves...More

During our 9 day Kauai vacation, we snorkeled at 3 locations and this was the best place for seeing many fish with a fairly good variety. In the building next to the beach, there is a snorkel equipment rental shop which was very handy. The...More

Great crescent but the whole week we’ve been here there’s little sand area to relax and enough swells to make water entry difficult. This isn’t a beach for the kids but is very popular with local surfers and is popular with snorkelers. The extremely rocky...More

This is a great place to snorkel. Not a very big beach but the water is great. Saw tons of fish and 2 sea turtles. We rented gear from Boss Frogs right there. Came back several times during our trip to snorkel. Would take a...More

Lawa'i Beach is one of the best snorkeling beaches in Kauai. The beach is very small and there is one small entrance point (straight line out from Shave Ice Stand) where one can avoid the coral and rocks to enter the water. We saw a...More

Snorkeling at Lawai Beach is free, open to the public, directly accessible from the street. Besides snorkeling, many people bring wine/snacks to enjoy the sunset on the small terraced lawn space bordering the cove. Enjoy!
