I booked the zodiac/landing tour a week before our arrival. It was really difficult getting dates on the weekend we arrived, so we were fortunate to get a Monday morning reservation for a party of 3. The staging time was quite early 7 am, but in hindsight, boy did it pay off!! We were grouped with She- Captain Mads and Carly and they were high energy, fun, and direct in regards to rules and safety.
We booked on an AMAZINGLY perfect weather day! We were fortunate to see pods of dolphins who came up for air in various groups and intervals. Some individuals even came up for jumps and spins out of the water. When it was time to see the caves we saw 3-4 down the Na Pali Coast. Timing was perfect and we even stopped to take the MANDO "jumping off the raft" photo in front of the mountain range. As lunch time neared we came to dock on the landing and snorkeled for quite some time. My group accidentally swam farther than expected but Mads and Carly called out to us and wrangled us back in time to share that a turtle had been sighted nearby. With her guidance we saw the resting Honu before we walked onto shore for a hearty/ filling lunch.
The sandwich, chips, and sprite definitely helped with the sea sickness/ queazy tummy!! After lunch the tour continues on a small walk where the guides share tons of information and history about the locals and this part of the aina. It also gives ample time for our tummies to settle before leaving on raft for the journey back! All in all, my group thoroughly enjoyed the tour provided by Mads & Carly. The toughest part is truly the physical tenacity of holding yourself in place through the ride.
Be forewarned, they were not joking about how strenuous the ride to site takes on the body. The only way we are attached to the raft is through ropes on either right or left of the vessel. It causes some stress on your hands and feet to ensure safety. There is A LOT of jerking too, so if you're one who succumbs to motion sickness at all, (or even if you just suspect you might) I HIGHLY recommending preparing accordingly. Investing in Dramamine or Bonine would help significantly.
Thank you ladies for a wonderful experience, my friends and I will surely be reminiscing of this trip for years to come!

Captain Maka and Steven were absolutely amazing! They both gave us lots of important historical context for what we were seeing, kept us safe, and Steven made sure we had amazing photos the whole time. The attention to detail on this tour is insane, I can’t imagine you can find a better value tour on all the islands. Mahalo nui loa to you all 🤙

This tour was 12/10. It was recommended to us from a local guide we used on the island to hike Waimea Canyon the day before.
We did the sunset NaPali tour as we wanted to have a sleep in that morning after so much touring previous days.
It began to lightly rain at the beginning of the tour but that did not stop the amazing energy of our guides. Halfway through, the skies cleared up and it was the most picturesque day. Our guides called it a “brochure day”.
They knew our names, asked us personally if we were okay. Made sure our kids felt safe. Offered to take pictures of us to capture these unforgettable moments.
Overall, They just went above and beyond. I will forever remember the sun setting behind us as we drove by those amazing views of the coast.
Thank you!

Highly recommend this company and cannot say enough good things about the crew we had. Danny and Carly are pros at this and demonstrated impressive skills and knowledge in all aspects of this adventure.
From booking, follow up confirmations, on time meet ups, safety meeting tutorial, the actual experience, blue ocean really does a great job training their employees to give you the best and unforgettable experience. Also their boat, safety equipment and snorkel gear seemed well maintained and up to date.
We were fortunate to have great weather and water conditions, however this job definitely takes some serious skill and knowledge of the waterways to keep you safe while also giving you an unforgettable thrill ride and this crew nailed it.
We did the zodiac boats with beach landing, lunch, snorkeling and little adventure walk around the ancient fishing village . At first we only really cared about the boat ride and snorkeling, but the lunch was surprisingly delicious and the history lessons Carly gave us were insane and unlike anything I would’ve imagined. Some of the coolest stories you’ll hear about Hawaii and how the natives used to live/navigate/eat on the Na pali coast.
Both Danny and Carly were passionate about their jobs, very personable, funny and smart. They seemed like they really enjoyed getting to know everyone on the boat, asking everyone questions to find out who we all were and sharing their own stories, helped bridged connections with me and my wife with the other guests. They would offer to take photos for everyone at different locations and were patient with giving everyone chances to review and re-take if needed.
We missed out on seeing dolphins on the way up the coast, but Danny found them on our way back to the harbor to everyone’s delight and we hung out amongst a huge pod of dolphins while Carly once again provided so much info about the marine life, land animals, history of native species/imported species. Just overall impressed.
Thank you Danny and Carly, truly unforgettable experience.

Water was choppy at best that day, and 4 bailed out leaving more space on the boat. The trip was well worth it. Captain Maka rode the high surf as smooth as can be, backed us up in a cave blindfolded while Jerry was entertaining the group, felt really safe with these two, and the views, dolphins, whales and experience was a blast.

We cannot recommend this tour enough! My husband and I had the absolute best time on the zodiac boat with Capt. Mads & Connor. Mads was super knowledgeable about the history and facts about the Na Pali Coast, played such good music and they both were great to have conversations with and kept the entire trip fun! They went above and beyond by taking us in extra caves, showing us dolphins and turtles, and making sure we had the best tour! I felt extremely safe and well-informed throughout the entire tour. You definitely don't want to miss out on this experience, and we highly recommend requesting Capt. Mads and Connor (I'm sure everyone is great but can't recommend our crew enough!!) Thank you so much for making our trip so memorable!

Our family (parents and young adults) begrudgingly woke up early but Mads and Grace made it totally worth the early morning!!! They were high energy and made us feel welcome and right at home immediately! We saw dolphins and sea turtles, heard a little hit of island history, and enjoyed the amazing Hawaiian weather and sunshine, but my favorite had to be the sea caves!!! Just absolutely a 5 star experience from beginning to end!!! 10/10 would totally do this tour again!

Kevin and his crew were top notch! The day was amazing. They found too many dolphins to even count and adeptly navigated the big catamaran into a bunch of costal sea caves. We were excited to be there but it was super cool to see how the crew, who I’m sure sees these sights multiple times a week, was even more energetic than the guests. They seemed so happy to be there and they were all knowledgeable about Hawaiiian culture and the history of the coast. I’d recommend this tour to anyone and if you’re a little more adventurous then take their Zodiac boat tour. They all stick together but the Zodiacs and more nimble and close to the water so it’s a bit more thrilling.

Our catamaran tour to the Napali Coast with Blue Ocean Adventures was nothing short of magical! From the moment we stepped aboard, we were greeted with warm smiles and exceptional hospitality by the crew, who went above and beyond to ensure our entire family had an unforgettable experience.
Traveling with our two kids and my parents, I was impressed by how attentive and accommodating the crew was to everyone. Grace came by and got to know each and every person on the boat. The crew was so attentive to everyone’s needs. My mom has some mobility issues after a stroke, and the crew did everything to help her. They took photos for her, photos of all of us, and even slowed down the boat so she could get up the stairs to look off the bow. They made sure we were all comfortable, entertained, and fully immersed in the stunning surroundings. Whether it was pointing out dolphins or making sure we had everything we needed, their dedication and enthusiasm were truly exceptional.
This tour was a highlight of our trip, and we left with memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re looking for a top-notch experience on the Napali Coast, I highly recommend Blue Ocean Adventures. Thank you, Grace and Kevin, for an amazing day at sea!

The views were stunning, but the crew was what made this boat tour a 10/10! We had a super windy morning and choppy waters. Keaka & Kaikoa made sure our entire boat was comfortable & enjoying themselves even though the weather wasn't as sunny as we would have liked. My 2 friends and I all agreed that the guys smiling & jolly faces, along with the BEST music to sing along with were a highlight. After our week stay, we all gave our highs and lows of the trip, and my friend said her high of the ENTIRE trip was loudly singing Taylor Swift with the boys on the way back to the dock. And she even did a helicopter tour.... :-)
Before we took off, Keaka said to us, "We might do some things that are out of your comfort zone. But I'll never do anything today that's out of mine." We all thought this was so well said.
And THANK YOU to the wonderful female phone girlies! Everyone I spoke with was so super friendly. Thank you for making our boat trip the incredible experience that we hoped for!
And just side note. For anyone who gets seasick, make sure to take Dramamine! The waters might be choppy, and it even crept up on me..and I dont usually get affected by the water.

Does anyone have any experiences with the power catamaran? How many people do you take? Did you have a great time?
Written 24 April 2022
Our group was 2 couples, all active retirees. We went in February; power catamaran load that morning was 22 passengers, not including crew. We had a blast; the winter swells were 15 ft; we saw whales, dolphins, turtles and the scenery was rugged and majestic. We liked the power catamaran for it’s smooth ride and we could move around taking pictures; unlike the smaller zodiacs, where we saw them holding on for dear life, skimming over the bumpy waves. Blue Ocean Adventures was the best; excellent, professional, super friendly and so much fun!

Hi there-
I'm having a hard time deciding between the morning vs afternoon raft tour--I really love photos and good lighting so part of me really wants to take advantage of that golden hour opportunity, but, curious for those who've done this afternoon option, if the water was choppier/if you didn't see as much wildlife? I heard those are the drawbacks for potentially doing afternoon instead of morning...and I'm having a hard time deciding if golden hour/sunset lighting is worth potentially rougher waters/less wildlife sightings.
Any insight would be appreciated! (I know there's no 'wrong' decision here, but would love to hear from someone who's done it and if the afternoon lighting photos were worth it!)
Thanks,
Alyssa

Morning-way less wind, less choppy conditions. Trust me the morning is choppy enough!

How is this tour for senior citizens? Would you recommend it?
Written 15 April 2021
It is quite rough, it is 3 hrs of holding on for dear life against the wind. They tell you up front if you have Any back or health issues not to go. I’m in my 40s and I’m feeling quite sore today from our ride yesterday! If you are in great condition and have a good sea stomach it’s a fun adventure!

This looks amazing, but I’m prone to motion sickness...is the boat ride rough?
Written 9 December 2019
The boats travel at VERY fast speeds which is the key reason why people rarely get sick. Catamarans are bigger and slower and that big content rock makes people alot more sick.
Written 7 March 2020
I think it was. Having a Hawaiin lunch on land to break up your time on the boat, getting to explore the beach (where we saw a ton of resting sea turtles), and learning about the old fishing village was really cool. Plus it was one of the prettier spots, and really puts into perspective just how massive the sea cliffs are.
Written 31 October 2019
I’m prone to sea sickness. How rough are the waters the beginning of October?
Written 25 August 2019
We had calm waters and even then I wouldn’t recommend this trip for you if you are prone to sea sickness. Pick a trip with a larger boat.
Written 31 August 2019
I’m interested in an afternoon tour (Napali Coast with Beach Landing) for better photo lighting. Is the water generally rougher for the afternoon? Any other pros and cons? Thanks, Eric
Written 18 August 2019
Hi Eric,
I think it depends on the time of year and frankly, the weather that day. I suggest calling a few days ahead of time and asking what the folks at Blue Ocean Adventure Tours think about the weather.
Have a wonderful time!
