It's beautiful and worthy to visit this place
There are 2 falls, Akaka and Kahuna.
Highly recommend to see Akaka whereas Kahuna is just a very small one, not attractive at all

There are 4 waterfalls on this short hike. It's paved the whole way, with a covered rest area at the Akaka Falls.

Agree with several of the other reviewers here. By the way, there are two routes you can take: The longer route, which includes a 2nd waterfall. Or the shorter route, which includes a direct walk to the main waterfall. There are a few steps and some inclines along the way. The parking lot attendant told my wife there would be 350+ steps to take. Well, not the shorter route anyways. We were able to make the easy, paved walk in about 15 minutes or so. The waterfall itself is nice to look at. But, as the other reviewers mentioned, it's $10 to park, and $5 per person. So, for 2 of us, it was $20 to go see. I guess they gotta find a way to make some money back after COVID hit their tourism income so hard. But, dang, that's a bit pricey.

...that runs about a half mile. And it's paved. There are some pretty nice views of the waterfall which is pretty damn tall. I was wondering if you can get to the bottom of the waterfall from the trail, but I didn't see you away. I think I spent less than an hour here. Nothing really much else to say.

It was well worth the drive from Waikoloa. The Hilo side of the island is so lush & green. The walk to the falls was beautiful and the falls was stunning. So happy we went.

trip advisor used to be a forum for people to share information about their trips, now it's just a way to sell package tours

Very scenic. The hike is easy and along a well marked guided paved walking path. The diversity of vegetation you see is amazing.

The fruit stand on the way to these falls (very close to the parking lot, not walking distance) is nice too. We got good coconuts, pineapples; expensive but good.

Compared to other attractions in the island, this is the worst one. Too expensive for a family with all fees, for very small hike and views of the waterfalls. Do not travel across the island just for this one.

This was a very cool hike. When you get to the parking lot, you pay for parking and entrance ($10 per car PLUS $5 per person) and walk along a one way path. On the walk, you will experience the rain forest and multiple falls that was super easy for my little ones and my mother in law. You could also do this hike with a little one in a pack/carrier and have no issues. It was interesting to read about the falls and fish along the way! A little overpriced, but I would say this is a must for visiting the Hilo side of the BI.

Hard to describe the shear beauty and magnificence of these falls. Although you can see the large waterfall from the outlook outside the park, there’s a second waterfall you can’t see from that vantage point, as well as a lot more botanical beauty throughout the park. Well worth the trip.
