Overview
More
Your journey begins at Wappocomo Station, situated next to a charming homestead and a sprawling view of the mountains. Enjoy the sounds of vintage diesels as they lead you through beautiful pastures and farms dating back to the 1700s. As you wind along the South Branch of the Potomac River, you’ll enter a visually-striking gorge known as the Trough. One of the most scenic spots along the South Branch, the Trough is home to American bald eagles. All excursions are round-trip and include narration. A concession car is available to purchase snacks and drinks. Sorry, no smoking, pets, or alcoholic beverages permitted.

Some people can't be pleased. Even with the older cars and such, my wife and I had a most wonderful day riding the rail. The staff could not have been more pleasant. Barbara, from Richmond, was terrific. Thank you. We saw Eagles nests, eagles and...More

Well, we decided to go on the train excursion after hearing so many wonderful things about it. The weather was perfect, everyone that worked there was very nice and helpful, except for one person (more on that later). The train goes down through a valley...More

We have ridden about 20 scenic railroads across the country - this appeared to be a 3 hour ride on a flat line along a river - not necessarily a spectacular ride. We were very surprised! Good equipment, comfortable seating, excellent roadbed for a smooth...More

The Potomac Eagle was a peaceful ride, my wife, mother and I did enjoy the trip and we did see some eagles however the staff could have done a better job of pointing out where the eagles were located. We payed $160, for 3 people,...More

What a great trip along the Potomac River, viewing Eagles in their natural environment. The staff that makes the food for the trip really needs some recognition, both of or dishes were fantastic, both flavor and being served moist.

Wonderful train ride with great scenic views. My wife and I rode in club car and order prime rib and chicken meals. For the price, would suggest riding in general seating and get food off the food car which has hotdogs, nachos, and other snack...More

The scenery made up for the terribly disappointing meal, especially for the price. My husband ordered prime rib and I ordered Chicken Cordon Bleu. OMG! Our salad consisted of 4-5 spinach leaves with about 1/2 tsp cheddar cheese on top. The roll was cold, the...More

Two choices in Romney: The Koolwink is a quaint, old-time motel like you found in the fifties. Clean, inexpensive, but no continental breakfast (McDonalds is just down the road, though) Its # is 304-822-3595 and is right... More
