Not much there because nothing happened. The fort's purpose was to defend the river from Confederate attack or capture, which never occurred. However, we did enjoy taking photos of the river and towns. There is a nice short trail at the top.

When in Parkersburg, take the time to check out this park. It is the perfect place for a short walk to an overlook of the city and Blennerhassett Island. Restrooms are available, plenty of parking and it is handicap friendly. There is no longer a fort there, but a number of historical markers and a canon.

We started our trip here with a picnic lunch. Beautiful views of the Ohio & Little Kanawha Rivers along with Belpre, OH and downtown Parkersburg, WV. Historic Fort with canons and paved walkways to go down. Got a glimpse of the Island Belle sternwheeler in action!
Clean restrooms.

This was a great stop near Parkersburg. Really easy to access, not crowded. We were the only ones there at 8am. Had a really nice view of the city and the river. Did a quick little walk up to the top for a good view as well, but the main view was right next to the parking lot. Had some nice picnic tables on site too that would be nice.

The park offers great views of the Mid-Ohio Valley and particularly Parkersburg. There are tables and shelters available for a great lunch and view combo.

Our family is one that loves to get outside and go. We love parks and geocaching and Fort Boreman fits the bill. There are several geocaches to grab, lots of historical information, great views of Parkersburg, small picnic areas, a playground, my only complaint is the bathrooms. I really wish they coulda got some plumbing put in. The bathrooms are a glorified port-a-potty. Other than that, it's great.

Wonderful piece of history made into a park. Worth the stop for the amazing view alone! Had the park to ourselves.

We have been to this park several times. The overlook of the Ohio Vally is beautiful during the greener months. The playground equipment leaves much to be desired.

This is also a good location to watch Fourth of July fireworks in Parkersburg. Just climb the hill to the flagpole and look over the railing to the north.

I've come here often, for 3 different reasons:

1)little ones love the wooden playground area and a picnic lunch under one of the shelters

It's small so it feels like a safe playground

**ive not used the toilets here, but they might be a bit rustic/composting

2) hike and exercise and photos
The additional overlooks and trails built over the last couple of years are seriously perfect. The hubby and I took some coffee and walked it together-It was so serene and great for photos!

3) cook out:
There are several tables and shelters along with grill areas-and don't forget there are more tables toward the back.
I've even known ppl to hold weddings here.

4) History & Overlook:
Sometimes we bring visitors to overlook the river and Pburg downtown-it's really a great view.
We also do the walk up to the ruins and read the history-its fascinating...
*This is a great short self-guided walk to summit, no museum building
