Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Best to look on a map to get directions to this walk which is a hidden gem in Opua. The walk is not sign posted from the main road. You will need a car to drive there and the walk itself is less than 30 mins return. It’s an easy mostly flat walk on a very well maintained walking track. The tress are beautiful, especially the large Kauri at the end.

What a special piece of New Zealand, lovely walk, nature at its best. The tree at the end is spectacular, and to see the younger trees just starting their journey. The road up there is a little off the beaten track but ok if you take your time.

About a 6 kms drive down Oromahoe Road a windy, well maintained metal road. Look out for a sign on right hand side telling you of different tracks including the Kauri walk another 600 metres drive ahead. Sign on left, small parking area on the right. Easy 30 min return walk through native bush with Kauri of varying sizes on a well maintained track with a viewing platform and seat at the end of the track. Here you can see the largest Kauri tree on the walk. Well worth the drive if you are in the area.

This is a great way to experience to grandeur of an ancient Kauri forest without trekking for miles. It is well- signposted off Oromahoe Rd and only takes 15 minutes to walk in. The Kauri are awesome, many of of them appearing to be only a 100 or so years old but there is one monster at the end of the track reputed to be over 400 years old. The path is easy and well- maintained and should present a problem to most walkers. Our grandchildren love it and even though they have been a nice bet of times, will ask to go again when ever they visit!

Few know about this wonderful walk. Road there a bit windy take care not recommend for camper vans. Sign on left side of road, parking on right. Easy track, nicely maintained. Viewing platform at end. Nice stand of Kauri half way down track. Allow about 1 hour return. Can waer sneakers. Take water.

This is a short, easy walk - 370 metres return. Some of board walk. Through native bush and plenty of Kauri of all sizes. Great for children and very peaceful surroundings. There is an elevated lookout platform and seat at the end of the walk.
