About
Spectacular scenery, gourmet food and warm rural hospitality – the Tora Coastal Walk is the best-loved privately run walk in New Zealand. This exhilarating three-day walk takes you to private hill-country farms, river valleys, native bush, hilltop ridges and the magnificent Tora coastline – and to complete each day, comfortable and stylish rural accommodation and delicious food, carefully prepared with fresh local ingredients by the people who own and farm the land. The walk includes all accommodation, meals, maps, and access to the track. Your luggage is transported each day, so you don't have to carry it with you. One of the best things about the Tora Coastal Walk is its strictly limited numbers. Only 14 people a day are allowed on the one-way track, leaving you free to walk uninterrupted by two-way traffic. Just 30 minutes from Martinborough Wine Village.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Firstly, a HUGE thank you for an amazing memory on your Tora Costal Walk.
Not only the walk, but also the sights, the experience, the FOOD, the hosts, it was also a time for our group of ladies to bond and simply enjoy each other with no scheduled appointments, meetings or anyone needing us - such an important moment in our busy lives to stop and enjoy friendships & see our country.
The coastline I'd have never have been able to stop and enjoy had I not done the Tora Walk - I loved the rugged open ocean and hills.
Thank you to you all once again

I can't recommend this walk more highly the scenery is amazing, the food stunning, the accommodation comfortable and very clean, and all the staff were incredible. It is so well run and organized we were only gone for 3 days but felt like a 2 week holiday we were all so relaxed at the end as we had been so well looked after. If you have been thinking about doing this walk don't hesitate it is amazing.

Our group of 9 friends had a blast doing this fun 3 day walk! It's strenuous enough to feel justified eating all the great food and drinking the wine we picked up on the way out there, but quite do-able with average fitness. The scenery is beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the seals on the rocks at Stony Bay. The accommodation is excellent. We got into the board games in front of the fires. We felt very welcome - some of us even invited ourselves to the farmhouse to watch the rugby!

We had a fantastic time on the walk. The accomodation is excellent, clean, tidy, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The food is absolutely beautiful and enquires only minimal input from guests to complete cooking. The walk itself is challenging, beautiful and leaves you feeling very satisfied with your efforts. And you will sleep well. Highly recommended.

Amazing food. Amazing accomodation and very friendly staff. The walk-
Day 1 The longest day with some challenging hills. But nothing too tricky. The contour of the land over the farm is what makes day one challenging. You end up in stunning accomodation. The coastline is wild and gorgeous.
Day 2 Easy flat track along some stunning coastline. Don’t bother walking the extra bit to the shipwreck, it has certainly been washed away. But take in the Trig when you get to the final accomodation. The views are stunning.
Day 3 Homeward bound through the farm, some very short steep bits but very manageable. The QEll protected land is stunning to walk through.

A bucket list trip and well worth the wait. Sign up for the cancellation waitlist to be alerted to places that pop up, otherwise book HEAPS in advance cause this walk is POPULAR and deservedly so.
Amazing countryside, incredible hosts, delicious food, well signposted track, majestic hills, sky and weather, be prepared for all seasons. The lodges are comfortable, cosy and perfectly equiped with hearty fires (already lit), great wifi, homebaking (delicious) and plenty of post walk beverage fridge space - the postman shifts it from lodge to lodge for you! Hoorah!
All round superb experience.

Thanks for the review Michelle! You were a dream to look after - such a high vibe bunch of mates. Not surprised you had a dance party along the way 😆

The first and third day is very hilly (over farmland). There are some steep sections and if wet very slippery. Day Two is flat and coastal so very manageable.

Hi, we are going next week and rain is predicted every day, do they have fire or drying room to dry shoes over night ? anything you would recommend for rainy days ?

There is a washing machine and dryer on the second night and also a large open fire, heat pump and drying racks. Jenny lives in the house next to where you stay on the third night and she is always happy to help dry clothes and shoes, We are also happy to lend you extra bits and pieces if you get caught short. Looking forward to meeting you soon:)

We are two couples thinking of doing this walk next year. What is the accommodation like? Are there private bedrooms or a shared dorm? How many people share a bathroom? How steep is the walk? Or alternately, is there a link to a website with all this detail?
