It was interesting to see these stromatolites. I would have liked there to be a bridge or something to go over so you could take better pictures though. We walked right around the lake but the stromatolites were only on one small section near the...More

The Stromatolites were a little underwhelming. After nearly missing the sign, we found our way there, glad that we did not have to drive to a long distance to find this.

Combine with a trip to the Pinnacles. Slight detour off uneven road but dont need a 4WD. Interesting

The stromatolites at Lake Thetis are well worth a look. Easy to access with very good information boards explaining these fascinating ancient life forms.

I was very disappointed as these stromatolites were so small, they are much bigger and better at Hamelin Pools.

Ancient life forms might not be everyones cup of tea. If it is for you it is interesting. However there is not much to see so set tour expectations low.

Sadly the day was overcast, well that's what I'm blaming, but the pictures I've seen are much better than the real thing..... however it's not much of a detour if you are in Cervantes.

These stromatolites are fascinating to see. There are more of them further up the coast near Denham. Have a look at both sites as the stromatolites are not quite the same.

You need some imagination to picture how old and how alive the stromatolites are. But once you do, you will really appreciate what you see as u walk from the red-soil car park to the edge of the lake. Enjoyable short diversion to or from...More
