We were looking forward to seeing these rock stacks as we have something similar near to where we live. We firstly struggled to find it, but after that we found not much there. We asked the information centre the next day and were told a...More

My BF and I found out about this place thanks to a lady in Apollo Bay. She was really critical about it, because people often park and cross the road in an unsafe way. In fact we would have discovered this place anyways, thank to...More

Huge tides have washed basically all the sculptures away 😞 Visited today on a long weekend - what would otherwise be a spot packed full of visitors was completely empty. Total amount of sculptures could be counted on two hands.

Stopped here , crossed the road , climbed over natural hurdles , to get to the stone beach , no sculptures 😞 A high tide had washed them all over , so we built our own and hopefully more people will stop and do the...More

This little cove is a hidden gem just off the Great Ocean Road. Scattered around a small beach are hundreds of stacked stone cairns built by visiting tourists. Plenty of extra building blocks exist, so it's almost impossible to visit this place without trying your...More

The strangest attraction on the Great Ocean Road. The rock tower aftermath of too many tourist visits shouldn't be something you'd want to see, but it is. Stop and wander round, take photos, add to the collection. The shear number is overwhelming as is the...More

While driving along the Great Ocean Road we saw all the cars parked along the road and like everyone else our curiosity got the best of us. We stopped - walked around the cairns - where we come from that is the name for the...More

We stumbled upon this amazing sight whilst driving down the Great Ocean Road towards Apollo Bay. There was no signage for this attraction, but the cars packed at the side of the road caught our attention. We had never seen anything so uniquely mysterious. It...More

Parking can be difficult at times and causes traffic kaos! Some people call it Zen. I call it organised disorder but whatever you might like to call it, the "Rock Stacking" seems to be giving people lots of enjoyment.
