Ponta do Sol is a sleepy town with a small beach. There are several restaurants and cafés on the promenade.I recommend a short walk through the tunnel to a sightseeing spot for a stunning view of the coast

Ponta Do Sol Beach is a small beach next to a lovely small town. Nice looking restaurant and hotels serve the people staying and visiting there.

We stayed nearby and went down to the beach almost every day. It's a really nice place, not crowded at all and you can enjoy yourself without many tourists around (at least in November). There's also a cafe with a terrace right on the beach...More

We stayed at the hotel Estalagem do Ponta do Sol, right above this nice little village. There are cafes, small shops and various restaurants to visit but above all there's the sea side with rocky beach. Don't miss the sunset!

Great little town with great little beach. Careful on the rocks as it’s a but hard to get into the ocean

Not much to say on this one except though lots of people swam, got a tan etc I personally didn't like it. The hotel we were in was opposite the beach and on an average day 15/25 people were there little cramped.

Went there for a day trip after hiring a car for a few days. Beautiful rocky / pebble beach. The snorkelling is amazing. Worth a visit.

Nice beach, quiet, friendly people, always space to lay down. Outside of Funchal. Nice small old town. Love it!

A lot of reviews seem to be downgrading Ponta do Sol because the beach is stony but, let's face it, the only sandy beach in Madeira had it's sand shipped in from elsewhere; the island does not abound in sandy beaches, so the Madeirans have...More
