Records date this church fFrom 1194. Renovated in 1269, and again in the 19th century. The upper floor dates from 1478. Today's painting was given to the church during the restorations carried out in late 20th century. Lancelet windows are here since the 14th century. There are interesting medieval tombs: the wounded knight with his dog Johann Friedrich von Wolfskehl zu Vetzberg. 1569-1609 and bailiff and customs clerk Meinhard von Schönberg 1530 -1596. For a time he was governor of Heidelberg.

Must see sites in this area. The history, the architecture and just across from the Wernerkapelle ruins, 1289.

During our river cruise trip along Rhine, we passed by the small town of Bacharach and saw the nice church near to the cruise pier. St. Peter's Church is an old medieval church, simple but beautiful. Recommended to view the internal part of the church if you have time.

This is right in the center of town. You can't miss it. Your walk up to the ruins will begin here. This was not open when we stopped so photos and a walk around the outside was what we got.

Not a breathtaking church, but you always wonder what made people in such small towns build such amazing structures for houses of worship. It only takes a few minutes to look around. Bacharach is a beautiful town, probably the best on this part of the Rhine. I was here on a Saturday, returned on a Monday to take more pictures as all my camera batteries died. About everything, restaurants, shops, were closed and this is September 24th. So plan what day you pass through.
