We have been to Cave Ridge a number of years ago and remembered it fondly. The cost of a wine flight and cost of bottles has gone over the top. The wines are no longer of the quality we expected. My husband and I got two flights so we could try both red and whites. Almost all were tasteless. He insisted on purchasing one bottle and we were hard-pressed to agree on which one was acceptable. The Viognier won out. Most bottles are more than $25, and worth half of that. All tastings must be done outside. We were there on a nice enough fall day but what if it had rained or turn very cold? The staff member who assisted us was very pleasant. The atmosphere is lovely, again, in nice weather. I doubt we will return.

Arrived here with our snacks to revisit this vineyard with friend who hadn’t been.
Randy Black and Madeleine were playing music and singing.
Wine was good, great company and great entertainment. This spot has 2 beautiful terraces plus nice grassy areas. It is such a FUN place. They have good food also.

This is a second visit to Cave Ridge for us. We enjoyed their port style dessert wine years ago and it is still very good. The place has grown with a lot of space to sit and enjoy the view and do a tasting. The staff was warm and welcoming. The Fossil Hill Red is very good. Highly recommend.

Cave Ridge Vineyard offers a tasting room as well as outdoor facilities if you would like to bring a picnic. They have a variety of sweet and dry wines and do charge a tasting fee. This is a great place to spend a pleasant afternoon in the spring or fall.

Today was my first time at Cave Ridge Vineyard and I had such a great experience! Olivia was so great to my grandson and was very knowledgeable about the wines. All the staff there was fantastic and all of their wines were great! Definitely a winery I'll go back to! The setting there is very relaxing! I would highly recommend this winery!

Great wine. Unpretentious but so hospitable. Gorgeous setting. Family friendly. The Riesling and the Voignier are the best we have tasted! Love the views and the porches for enjoying a glass or two. We will definitely return.

As a well traveled wine enthusiast, I was directed to visit Cave Ridge via word of mouth from some 'not so locals' in the DC area. (this vineyard is about an hour and 15 minute hike from the district). On my way down I-81, I made a point of stopping...& I'm glad I did. Although the roads are windy (as to be expected in this neck of the woods), the views were spectacular and the wines were to die for. Not an extraordinary selection of sweets, seems to specialize more in the dry, bold reds, however; i can say there wasn't a single wine I tasted I didn't enjoy. The lovely tasting room attendant was extremely knowledgable and engaged in the customer service aspect. Filled me in on some local spots to visit as well as recommended even their competition vineyards in the area. The ambience is a rustic feel, and the prices are more than reasonable for the quality. I left with a happy palette & a case of wine.

A MUST SEE while on the VA wine trail. I even joined their wine club when they offered to ship to me quarterly despite me living out of state. My only regret is that I don't live closer. Will definitely be planning a stop on any trips back to this beautiful state.

We visited on a VERY rainy nasty weekend - would love to come back and enjoy the beautiful patio areas in nicer weather. However, the wine is what will really bring you back - every single wine in our tasting was exceptional. Very fun informative pourer, and answered all questions we had (even some of my husbands off the wall ones). Be sure to see the fossil found on site. If you don't walk away with at least one bottle of the fandango I will be shocked (we limited ourselves to two). Also really loved the full traminette - a real treat! We recommend highly - a definite redo if we are back in the area!

We've been to several vineyards in the Shenandoah Valley for wine tastings when we stay at Massanutten Resort, and Cave Ridge is one of the best and friendliest. The wine selection was excellent, the fruit and cheese plate we sampled was outstanding (including stuffed dates, four kinds of cheeses, apples, grapes, bread and spreads which were really yummy), and the staff was very accommodating. Nice gift selection, too, if you're interested. We'll be back next year!

For the wine lovers in Virginia, and elsewhere, you must visit Cave Ridge Vineyards. Wine maker and owner, Randy Phillips is brilliant in that he has the property that grows great grapes and has the talent to transform the juice into great wines. Regardless of appreciation of red or whites, you will find at least several wines that are very suitable for your palette. I must say that the Cab and Cab Franc especially thrilled my taste buds, though the Merlot and Syrah were certainly at the party.
