Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’ve passed by this place all the time, but never had the chance to stop. One weekend my sister and I decided to take our boys and we had a lot of fun. We purchased each boy with a bag that contained gems that could be found by panning. In addition to the bags, we were able to find some small pieces in the sandy water they have there. After we were done panning we explored the 3 buildings they have set up to reflect the conditions the miners had when it was active. After we took the boys over to the playground to burn off some energy.

Goldvein is the first place in Virginia where gold was discovered, hence the name. I live in Goldvein, so pay no attention to the next question about when I traveled there. The museum is interesting to go through and gives you a good idea of what gold mining was like back then. It also has an associated park for the kids to play in. Good place to stop and let the kids unwind while you travel.

Took a break on a longer drive to stop and stretch my legs. Beautiful park with a fascinating museum on the history of gold mining in Virginia. Self guided tour of several buildings and attractions relating to gold mining. There is an interpretative guide who also does demonstrations of gold panning several days a week. Also available playground and picnic areas. Spent about an hour enjoying the visit here.

When you pull into the parking lot and your teenage passenger says, "Oh, I've been here. It's interesting!" you know you are in luck. The museum is well done - three buildings with well written signage and lots of interesting things for all ages to look at. The park manager came out and was happy to answer questions and share more information about upcoming events. There is also a very nice playground for running off energy, and it's all free. Excellent place for a break on your drive or an hour or two of playing and learning.

This is a great little park, very clean. It has play ground for children, covers picnic area. The gold mine building is great, step back in time and see how they lived, worked. On the days the gold mine is open, you can pan for gold. Love this park !!! We have used the cover picnic area for a birthday party for my grandson. Great all around !!!!

Very nice park! Clean and well kept. There is a gold mining camp museum, picnic tables, ball fields and a playground. On days that the mining sluice is open you can pan for gold or gems. The little ones enjoyed playing in the water and hunting for small rocks.

Are you able to purchase buckets of dirt and pan for gold or is it just a walk and learn park?
