Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Delaplane is wine country, and Arterra Wine is not for you if you don’t fit a certain stereotype. The server we had was condescending along with the owners even though we spent more than 400 dollars in our group. I was very off out by their customer service, ended up leaving early because we didn’t want to ruin a birthday occasion by spending more time at Arterra. 0/10 would not recommend this place. The owner is rude as well.

Were there on a Saturday, very crowded and loud with several families there. The facility is small. Wines are brought in a flight to your table with a tasting sheet. The winemaker did stop for a few minutes to tell us about their "clean" winemaking. Unfortunately, we did not like any of the wines enough to be tempted to purchase them - very unusual. Did not personally care for the tasting setup.

Amazing place! Went to the fall pairing dinner! Everything was outstanding! The wines, the food, the ambience and the service - especially the attention to detail! Can’t wait for next ever! Thank you!

Dropped in Saturday night for their Evening of Music. Easy drive from Northern VA. Charming location on the side of a mountain. Beautiful sunset. The wine tasting room is authentic, open aired and full of lovely ceramic artwork. Small number of wines yet wonderfully created. Jason is a down to earth wine maker and describes his creations with passion and creativity. The wine tasting offerings are unique; dry Reisling, Tannat, Malbec, Petit Verdot and a red blend. The grounds were enchanting with tables up on the porch and many picnic tables next to the vineyard. We loved this place and look forward to our return.

Cute little A-frame building in the woods. The view is of nature and the trees. The tasting was nice and we loved the tannat. The wife has her art work on display. This is a small winery with lots of promise. Beautiful tables inside and out.

The Inn where we stayed recommended this vineyard and we had no idea of the amazing art that would also be there. We had the luxury of meeting the artist (Sandy) and winemaker (Jason). We bought two art pieces to be shipped home. Wow!! Wine was very nice. We'd not had Virginia wines before and our expectations were a little low, but we were pleasantly surprised. Bought a bottle of the Chardonnay and red reserve for the weekend.
Great experience and would recommend to anyone in the area. We're California wine fans and didn't expect this.

This winery is relatively small and they had a small tasting menu as well (had sold out of several of their wines already; only 4 wines to taste). It is tucked in the trees and it quite the pretty little spot. The two ladies inside were super helpful and my tasting went well. They had a lovely dry Reisling, but I ended up getting a bottle of their sweet, yet tart Blueberry Apple Wine.

Stopped by this small boutique winery in the woods. Worth the small climb up the hill for the views. For a relatively newer winery, the wines were very good. I think their reds are the best especially the Cabernet Franc and the Tannat. Both smooth and full bodied. The winery also showcases one of the owners artwork, Hawkmoth Arts. The artwork is all original using ceramics and paint. Very creative.

In addition to many unique crafts for sale, several of which incorporate some part of the grape vines or leaves, the entire decor is a very cozy and warm atmosphere. They offer traditional tastings of their wines, but have only 1 white wine. Their entire selection of wines was to my taste, which is rare. Like many Virginia wineries, the bottles were a bit more expensive than my typical purchases. They do offer both indoor and outdoor seating, and would be a comfortable place to spend an afternoon with friends.
