Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Reviews looked interesting so stopped by today. Last winery of our day, but well before the 5:00 closing. Unfortunately we were informed that they stop offering tasting flights 20 mins before closing. As we left I checked my watch.. 4:38. So yes, we were close; but to my thinking it was just a rush to close up for the day. And if that's your plan... check you watch before giving a time or call it clean at 4:30 or something. We hustled to another winery just around the corner who were more than happy to see us, so still had an enjoyable end to our day!

Not worth the trip. The scenery is beautiful the wine was terrible. The whites were less awful than the reds. I’ve been drinking wines for 50 years and this experience was a bad one.

Gorgeous property, restored barn, and fun food pairing with wine. Fun server with good stories about the property and wine. A couple wines were good. Loved the cider! Very pricey for bottles, should be lower for the quality. It sells farm goods too. With visiting once at least.

Our group of 3 packed a picnic since Aspen doesn't can't accomodate food options without a minimum of pre-week advance notice. We did a wine sampling, including their new cider and sangria = not bad at all. We unanimously agreed on their Chardonay and took a bottle outside to one of their numerous picnic tables and tables. A little pond complete with carp and bull frogs is tastefully landscaped and a pleasant view of their extensive farm beyond is appealing. We loved that they allow dogs both inside and out, so we brought our beagle along and strolled around the property on a perfect summer Sunday. Aspen offers a rustic ambiance inside, a private room upstairs and plenty of green fields to roam should you care to. A very nice little winery and super staff!

I went with a group of 20 friends. Aspen Dale easily accommodated is for a tasting and food pairing. It was fun, informative and tasty. The food pairing samples are tiny! LOL But they served their purpose. The wines were delicious. We purchased a bottle of Rose to share on the grounds.

A wonderful winery in a breathtaking setting. Barns, animals, wine.

Visited Aspen Dale Winery at the Barn on Sunday, with wife & 2.5-year old daughter. Winery at Barn atmosphere was very warm & friendly. Large enough for very big parties/tour groups, or small parties; multi-floor seating makes for many romantic nooks to sit & sip wine. Owner was friendly; Wine Tasting Servers were well-informed about wines in general, and the Aspen Dale Winery specifically. Nice cozy area where child could play while mom & dad taste wine. The wines were very good tasting. Outside had wild animals (shetland/miniature horses & large horse) for daughter to feed grass to (she enjoyed very much), many nice spots with picnic tables. Only weak point of the whole Winery is that Wine Tasting was a bit too expensive, when combined with pricy Wine by the bottle (should either be pricy Wine Tasting, with more reasonable-priced Bottle Wine sales; or pricy Bottle Wine, with cheap Wine Tasting so you can decide to buy the Bottle after sampling). Even though we liked the taste of wine, after we paid higher-than-typical Wine Tasting, my wife lost interest to buy the Wine Bottle. We heard nearby customer also comment that $42/bottle was too much costly. Overall, a very good experience. Over-Pricing was the only aspect that kept it from being excellent.

Sit outside and hang out with their cat, Tiger II. They also have horses and goats that you can hang with.

Animals aside, I thought this winery was pretty amazing. They had great wine, and they also had cider and frozen sangria!

The young ladies tending bar were incredibly nice and friendly, and the owners were active in making sure everyone was having a positive experience.

Aspen Dale was the second winery we stopped at on our return to Washington DC. The moment we walked in we were enchanted with the decor and the warm and welcoming ambiance of the place. The server was attentive and there were excellent food pairings with the wines we tasted. We decided to buy a couple of bottles of our favorite wine and a glass or two to enjoy on the premises which was accompanied by some of the excellent cheese and sausages and a baguette that had been paired with the wine. While we were sitting enjoying our meal, a local troubadour played good music on his guitar making this the highlight of our wine tasting trip. A place for a return visit..

A converted old barn serves as a Tasting Room, and is very nice. They also have several gazebos outside, and shaded seating. Views are of a farm, not as scenic as some of the local wineries. Most of their grapes come from another VA vineyard - not grown on site. That said, the experience here was very pleasant. One of the owners was our server, and she provided a great tasting. They pair small food bites with each wine, and the changes in flavors of the wines are quite amazing. Their Rose was excellent, and their semi-sweet Vidal was good for that style of wine. The Reds were good, but, in my very subjective opinion, not outstanding. The pheasant sausage was excellent. Overall, this is a great place to stop for a unique tasting. You will probably find wines that you like, learn something about food pairing, and enjoy the rustic country atmosphere.

We visited on a Monday afternoon and were the only people there for the tasting. They had 6 or 7 wines to taste at $12 a tasting. I you wanted to taste their cider, the tasting was a dollar more. The cider didn't have a lot of flavor so skip that but the other wines were good. I like having a small sample of food to taste along with each wine. The small bites ranged from cheese to sausage to chocolate. The hostess was very nice. The location wasn't far off of I-66 so it was easy to find.
