Our second stay in the unspoilt mediaeval town of Trujillo - both times with our dog. Highlight to visit the grounds of the impressive castle. As seen in Game of Thrones. Local people taking the air or walking their dog, children playing, storks and the...More

It is a bit of a climb to get to the top but it is all stairs or ramps. The castle is amazing. It has not had a bunch of restoration which adds to its charm. It is only 1.50 euros to tour the keep...More

Compared to other castles in Spain it’s pretty poor, it’s got nice views but it’s all a little scruffy and along one wall all the floodlights have been stolen which is a shame, as is the plaza full of dogs mess so watch your footing.

This is a real castle - perched high on a hill which affords great views. Derelict and decaying but still with amazing character. Its a steep walk but worth it. Reward yourself with a well earned drink in one of the cafes in the square...More
