Welcoming & Knowledgeable host
Jan 2020
Riwaka is a small boutique producer of beautiful wines including Rose, sauvignon, chardonnay and pinot noir. The host was welcoming, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, only too happy to share his wonderful wine creations with his visitors.
Riwaka also produce a delicious olive oil from their olive grove on the estate.
The surrounding gardens were a delight to the senses!

Small, Personal and Fantastic Wines!

This young family is putting there hearts into creating superb wines! The vines are carefully cultivated and grapes hand picked. Their white wines are some of the best we tasted during our month in New Zealand!

Really made to feel welcome at Riwaka and we could tell the host was enthused about the vineyard, wine and the whole process and location. Bought the Sav Blanc, sadly its gone already, but it was tasty.

Lovely wines and lovely people

This little winery was our first stop on our own vineyard tour. Paul was friendly and chatty and so informative about the families wines and their winery. He also recommended a gorgeous fish restaurant in Nelson which serves their wine. The wines are beautiful and it was very hard to come away with only one bottle. I will be back for more soon!

Charming hidden gem
Dec 2018 • Couples
Truly a family owned and operated venue. Paul was so wonderfully informative of the wine making process and passionate about his wines. He explained the varietal production year each wines were produced to explain the nuances of the wine characteristics and shared a quick tour of the vineyard. The wines were delightful and well balanced. Highly recommend a stop here for a taste!

Delightful winery

We arrived shortly after opening of a wet day. Paul was very welcoming and we tried all three wines and bought two bottles. Paul also provided us with good advice regarding other local sites to visit.

Awesome hidden treat!

Stumbled upon this winery and loved it! We ended up buying two bottles (tried three wines and would've taken more, but had limited time) and half a dozen eggs. The owners, former business people out of England, offered us a friendly vineyard tasting and great company. Really happy we stopped in and glad they stay open until 6pm (it allowed us to check into our accommodation before hitting a winery!).

Charming!

We found this little haven whilst on our NZ road trip.
The welcome at the cellar door was fantastic despite a rush to get to their son’s drama production.
The wines are superb. The setting is idyllic.
Through Okay2Stay we enjoyed an overnight stop nestled between the olive grove, the vineyard, and the hop field and were treated to a beautiful sunrise.
This is the embodiment of the New Zealand dream.
