Welcome to eminent domain abuse, and high-handed officials bullying private property owners. No sooner did the ill-fated Kelo vs New London supreme court decision get handed down than the local city government signed on to get some of their share. Strange things started happening, such as the construction of a new McMansion facing Pipeline Road. It was never lived in, and taken apart piece-by-piece and toted away. We had two happy malls about a mile from each other, one of which intentionally being up-scale and more expensive than the other. The city leadership, along with Simon properties decided they needed to double the size of the existing blue-collar mall, and they would take the private property from 127 home owners to do it.
They used the new legal vehicle to condemn the lives of 127 private owners and then re-sell the land to another private owner they THINK will pay bigger taxes. And, when those hold outs who wouldn’t just roll over and agree fought them, they re-routed the road to go over those parcels. The whole thing was the most outrageous abuse of private owner rights to date, but time would prove it’s only going to get worse.
From that day, I haven’t set foot on the property, and I won’t go back. To buy something over there is to endorse that behavior, and I cannot morally agree that what they did is right, nor acceptable. I don’t care what they have over there, I don’t need it, and I have held true to my convictions for going on 15 years now. It has resulting in the upscale mall going bankrupt, and it’s now been razed. The neighboring city’s tax engine was yanked right out from under them using abuse of the law (eminent domain) as a means. The city counsel of Hurst Texas acted like two babies in a sand box fighting over a pail of sand.
Eminent domain was never intended to be used this way, and I still have a fleeting hope that the trend after Kelo vs New London will subsequently be made illegal again. I’ve always wanted to know what the penalties are if one of these projects does not produce bigger taxes, which is the basis they use for condemnation. Who pays?
I wouldn't urinate on the place if it was burning to the ground.

Plenty of parking at various entrances and many more stores than we thought. Besides many stores they offer a Food Court and Bungy Swings that looked like a lot of fun.

I enjoyed shopping here. It is a typical mall - nothing new or amazing - no "must see" experiences. But I enjoyed my time here.

Love this place. The rest of the mall is fine and all. Seems like they charge too much in rent because the shops are always changing and going out of business. However. The food court. They have a chikfila and a teriyaki place called Fuji Teriyaki. It’s the reason me and my husband go to the mall at all most days. They dole out free samples so you can sample it before you buy it. And we love it. We come here for dinner and leave. Don’t even visit the rest of the mall. One of our go-to dinner spots...it just so happens to be in a food court mall.

I recently visited a Macy’s department store in Hurst, TX to look for a pair of boots. While in Macy’s I visited the clearance area and found some Michael Kors boots with a label on the bottom of the shoe stating it was for $34.63. (The label appeared to be real, it wasn’t frayed or torn in anyway)
Being that it was such a deal, I asked the assistant if they had another pair and he went to look. Another gentleman (Ramon) arrived with the boots and immediately began speaking Spanish to me, even though I never said anything to the previous assistant about wanting to be helped by someone who spoke Spanish. He advised me that these boots were actually $300, but that they are on special for $169 and that the price listed on the shoe was incorrect. He stated that he had already spoken with his manager and could not honor the price that was labeled.
He went on to say that “someone” must have pulled the price off another shoe and put it on the box of Michael Kors and proceeded to tear off the clearance price off the shoe. I immediately told him that at no point had I changed any price on any of the shoes and that even if the price was mislabeled, they had to honor the price that was listed on the tag. The assistant proceeded to tell me that unfortunately he could not honor that price.
I asked to speak with a manager (Farhana), to which he pointed to where she was and that I could go and speak with her directly. I walked to where she was and to which she proceeded to ignore me and walk towards the storage where Ramon was. They went into the storage and had a discussion, obviously about me, because at the time they came out Ramon pointed at me.
When they exited, I began speaking with her about the situation and she then interrupted me in a very strong and rude tone said “Yes I know! If you really want them you can have them, we will honor the price, but next time you need to be honest!”
At this point I’m in complete shock as to what she said and the tone she used in front of customers and employees. I was racially profiled and humiliated by Ramon and Farhana. I then told her that I had not changed anything, and that there was a mistake and that I shouldn’t be paying for a mistake made by Macy’s.
She went to the register and in a very loud and rude tone told Ramone “If she wants the boots she can have them, just give her the boots, its only one pair but is all about honesty!!!!
I looked at her and I told her that I am an honest person and that it was completely unprofessional to accuse me of changing price. Farhana simply walked away and said I’m honest too!
Ramon told me that they were not accusing me of anything to which I said why is she calling me a dishonest person then? He stayed quiet and had nothing to say.
Because of all the commotion that had just happened I felt as though all the customers in the store staring at me like I am stealing these boots. I felt completely humiliated and disrespected. I have never been accused of being a thieif and to this day still feel horrible for the way I was treated when I was just fighting for my rights. I send a letter to the GM of the store and don’t have the kindness to respond.

I love the ease and convenience of NorthEast Mall w upscale as well as moderate retailers.
Nordstroms is here w friendly helpful sales staff (as well as terrific gifts such as their scarves - one of my fav gifts hands down for usefulness and style, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics and an added bonus - a stylish men's department too).
Dillard's also has wonderful gift options and a well stocked Eileen fisher group in addition isn't of the popular designer lines and of course well known stores for the man in your life - which include Dicks sporting goods and an excellently stocked Under Armour selection for his and hers too, as well as Brookstone for the techie or techie wanta-be.
There's also a blessedly convening and sizable Starbucks kiosk for those of us in desperate need of a caffeine boost as well as a Teavana store.
Other fav retailers include Chicos, White House Black Market, Gap, Sephora, Buckle...so many options and choices here, with easy convenient and sizable parking.
There's even a great oboe theater and dining options just outside the mall and a pretty well stocked food court indoors too.
Absolutely worth checking out if in Fort Worth and certainly your patronage is appreciated - I've been In ft worth almost four years now and this has become one of my fav shopping locations for ease, for Convenience and last minute gifts that are always well priced and just right.
Advice: I get in early, get done and get out, through the week vs busy weekends, and holiday shopping well in advance - Northeast like its malls, tends to be crazy beginning the week of thanksgiving till New Years. If you just must holiday shop, always go early and if possible avoid their holiday crazy
Busy weekends.

Out of town visitor, enjoyed shopping all the stores. Looked bigger from the outside thought were more stores. Had fun clothing and shoe shops. Didn't go to Food Court this time but did in March and had good variety. Ran out of stores before ran out of time and energy. There were some strip malls with good shops near by so, more fun shopping And a movie theater attached too. Didn't go but there for next time if needed.

This mall had all of the typical department stores and shops that most malls have. It also had quite a few sports related shops along with many apparel shops. As malls go, I'd say it is adequate.
