Good beer
Nov 2021
We only stopped for beer so I can't review the food. The beer was excellent. We travel to Germany frequently and this beer was very similar to what we drink there. Lovely setting. Barman very helpful.

Ugh
Oct 2021 • Friends
Stopped here for music, beer and food. Music was good. Only beer that was good was oktoberfest. Restaurant was awful, painfully terrible. We were seated by the hostess after a 30 min wait and forgotten about. The waitress serving the tables around us didnt seem bothered that our waitress never came by our table. I brought up our lack of a waitress to the hostess after 15 minutes of waiting at the table. Finally our waitress showed up to drop off some water, as the table sitting next to us, who was seated after us but had the other waitress who didn't alert anyone about our table, had their food served. We ordered right away. Took another 30 minutes to get food. And we didn't see our waitress again until I had to go find her again to ask for the bill. Skip this place.

Not worth the trip

This place was highly recommended at the visitor center in Fredericksburg, and the facility looks stately and appealing, but we were super disappointed. First, the service was horrible. The waitress ignored two people in our party and we had to wait awhile for her to come back to complete our food order. Service was very slow. I had the German pretzel and it was dry and tasted like bread, not like the German pretzels at all (I had a far better one in San Antonio the day before). My husband had the sausage platter and he said it was nothing to get excited about. None of us were impressed and would never go back.

Wanted to like it

After spending the day wine tasting we were saving up room for dinner at the brewery. We had researched it and all wanted the Ruben sandwich. When it arrived, there were only two measly strips of pastrami on it and it was more Russian dressing than anything else. So much for a German themed restaurant.

Service was slow for being half full and they never brought us the soft drinks. Apparently the machine was broken but we didn’t find out until we requested the bill (as our waiter took our order and then didn’t show up again until we were ready for the bill… runners brought us the food).

We ate lunch at the brewery and it was excellent! I had the salmon special (probably one of the best salmon dishes I’ve had!) and my husband had the burger. The burger was a combo of 3 different meats and it was very delicious! The have a vintage tractor museum on the grounds that was very interesting! We had a great time here!

Don't eat here.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE ENTREES!!!! Six in our party, each had something different, ALL was uneatable. We had the specialty "marinated" cucumbers. They were sliced beautifully, i give them that. They had absolutely no dressing on them. They were dry cucumbers, no salt, no seasoning and obviously they had NEVER been marinated. We had the Pretzel, kudos there that was tasty. My Rueben was so dried out the bread was like crackers, the spicy chicken sandwich was raw, the specialty sandwich some cheesy thing was made maybe three days ago and heated up, soup was cold. Chopped Chicken salad, warm and wilted. The desserts were good, we had the bread pudding and brownie. Seriously, this was the worst food. Wait staff not so great either. So if you just want to drink Beer, have an appetizer and dessert you will be ok. Just fair warning here, save your money and go have some decent tasty food at Bella Sera!

Exceptional food, beer an SERVICE!!!

We were coming into Fredericksburg Thursday for a long weekend with friends and stopped into check out the menu (we were very hungry to say the least). We were promptly seated and introduced to Christian…what a wonderful experience as he promptly took our orders and hustled back to place our food.

I had the Chopped Chef’s salad and added chicken…excellent. We were so impressed with Christian and the quality of our meals that we decided to bring all our friends here the next day after our Golf Tournament (27 total)…I asked if we could reserve a large table to seat the 27 hungry folks…so Christian introduced me to the manager George. Long story a bit shorter…they set us up in the Ballroom the next day. Everyone was VERY impressed with Christian as well as he placed all the orders and within no time we were served incredible meals.

Highly recommend giving this establishment a visit. You won’t be disappointed!!!
Blessings always,
Vic Quinton

A must stop if you are a beer fan
May 2021
I love Bavarian style beers. Who knew you could find them brewed in Texas! The different flavors are great. Generous sample sizes with the flights. Food also delicious. Facility is beautiful. Ideal stop for dinner (and beer) when done visiting wineries east of town. Only complaint is you just can't find their beer in town unrefrigerated for those traveling long distances home. Not even at the brewery. Will have to hunt your local liquor stores. Also, the Weizenbock is a Brewer's Choice selection right now (only available at the brewery). My vote for putting this out for retail.

FOOD NOT THAT GREAT - BEER GOOD
May 2021
Met up with Friends in Fredericksburg for several days and stopped in Altstadt Brewery because they were recommended. I PM'd them on FB days before we left to see if the Tractor Museum would be open, and it would.

Wednesday Lunch - Sangria for my Wife and I had a Hefeweizen.
Wife; "Chef's Salad" - Chopped Salad Mix, with Ham, Turkey, Hard Boiled Egg, Grape Tomatoes, Cucumber, Cheddar Cheese & Red Onion with Ranch Dressing (choice).
Me; "Sausage Plate" (App Menu); House Made Sausage, Sauerkraut, While Grain & Dijon Mustard with Beer Cheese.
Beautiful Building Inside and Out. We ate on the Patio with a breeze. Wife's Chef Salad was okay, served room temp, not crisp & cold. Ranch Dressing was very Thin & not much flavor. My plate of Sausages were served warm, not hot, but nice flavor. The Mustards were good but the Beer Cheese was Extra Thin.
Can't remember our Servers name but this guy was Awesome and earned the "Dollar-Bow-Tie" Award - 5 Stars for the Server - 0 Stars for Altstadt. They also have a Tractor Museum but it was locked-up. They said they would open it for us but it would take 45 minutes for the person to come in. We didn't stay.
Avoid this place - it's Way Over Priced for Below Average Food but he Beer is Good - and you can get that anywhere in town and it's Served Colder.
