This is a beautiful, country drive with little stops along the way to stretch your legs. History sprinkled everywhere. Keep your eyes open for wildlife. Wild Turkey (the birds) everywhere. We really enjoyed our trip down part of the Trace.

Drove the Trace on a Wednesday morning from the northern terminus to Tupelo, then from Tupelo to I840 in the afternoon. While many might think it's boring, there is beautiful scenery the entire length, some historic points of interest and some nice hiking trails, too....More

Recomend this drive in the spring with redbuds and dogwoods blooming as well as fall colors but anytime this hghway is a treat to navigate. Just remember the lower speed limit because fines for speeding are hefty. Also must sty alert for hikers, bicycles, and...More

One of my favorite spring trips! See it in full beauty when the redbuds are in bloom. It's a "wow"! If you don't have time for the whole Trace experience at least drive a portion but first stop at Loveless Cafe for a delightful breakfast.

We traveled the Tennessee part of the parkway for about 100 miles and found it boring. Yes the road had curves, but it appeared for no reason. There were no real mountain views. It was mostly trees. We stopped at lookouts, and was not impressed....More

We only had 1/2 a day. We took the drive from Double Arches Bridge on the north end to the Merriweather Lewis burial site at the south end and back. (The whole trail is 440 miles.) It was very doable, there was no traffic... More

Memphis is NW of the Trace. If you go straight East from Memphis you can pick it up and head North. Depending on your time, you could also angle South East towards Tupelo and pick it up there. You would be doing about 1/2... More
