Very pretty walk but be warned. The walk from the Picaninny car park off the Halls Gap road is 1.2k all uphill on narrow steep rocky path. Moderate fitness required and quite dangerous. Not suitable for small children. Even more dangerous on the way down....More

We weren’t up to the challenges of Mt Abrupt or Mt Sturgeon - so tackled the Picaninnys instead. A delightful trek up amongst the grass trees - and fabulous views OF Mt Abrupt in one side and Mt Sturgeon on the other, as well as...More

I love this location and it is the most stand-out spot in the area so take the a few minutes of your life when in Dunkeld to stretch your legs and suck up the views.

Recommended by staff at the Royal Mail for easy hiking. Very easy to get to and park at. Beautiful surrounds. And a mostly gentle and short hike to a lovely panoramic view. It wasn’t busy when I walked - which added to the peacefulness.

About short hike about one hour each way with a rocky section about half way up. Heaps of wildflowers in early September and a good view of the country side when you get to the top.
