On visit to Casterton saw sign to this lagoon and decided to take a look. What a lovely area so close to town with picnic tables available under beautiful river red gums. Spotted a family out fishing with their children. Really worth a visit.

The Ess Lagoon is a lovely place to visit. It has Lot of trout and Redfin in it if you like fishing. The kids will love it . It is also a lovely spot for camping , which is free , for caravans or tents...More

We stayed two nights in this beautiful free camp. As close to perfect as you can get. Great town and friendly locals. Only self contained. Totally safe town.

We chanced upon this spot when it was raining, so didn't explore thoroughly, but we would certainly have a break from driving here next time we are in Casterton.

There is not much there but perhaps that is its strength. It is a nice place to let the dog walk or to sit quietly with a book. we found it quite small and the caravanning nearby distracts.

Whilst visiting Casterton, we decided to drive around this great little town in Western Victoria. We came across this picturesque & quite lagoon which is on the town's "Kelpie Walking Trail". We understand the lagoon is stocked with trout for those people keen on fishing.
