On a recent Wednesday morning, me and Hubby drove along the A494 and followed the brown tourist signs for this gaol/jail. We parked on the small Council car park next to the petrol station which cost £3.50 for all day (short-stay cheaper options were available)....More

We visited during our weekend stay in the castle. The entrance fee is very reasonable (£5 per adult which we thought was fair). You get a map and an audio guide. As you walk around you find numbered plaques and when you enter the numbers...More

This exceeded our expectations - we found it was dog friendly and appreciated the pleasant staff. It gives some insight into social history eg the somewhat spurious reasons given for locking up offenders there in Victorian times. The basement cells were a little scary for...More

Well worth a visit to discover the hardships inmates faced and the reasons for imprisonment. Interactive in parts for children.

Visited this visitor attraction, very informative audio guide and brilliantly reconstructed. Well worth the £5.00 admission fee. Very interactive experience for children too. The Pentonville style goal took your breath away when you enter this area! Highly recommended if you are in the area!
