A beautiful church well worth a visit. When we arrived two members of the corrugation were in cleaning it and they obviously take fantastic care of it because it’s in great condition for such an old building. Absolutely stunning and a lovely graveyard too with some very interesting war graves and other gravestones. You can even then get on the train back to wherever you need to go as the llanaber station is a 10 minute walk away and trains go roughly every 1-2 hours.

The Church was open , it was lovely inside and full of history.

Sadly the older part of the graveyard is very overgrown. It's a great shame as there are some interesting headstones there but difficult to get close to them.
It's in a beautiful spot.

First time we have ever seen an adder snake !
Was on the path by church went in a small gap between the stone and the wall near church
It’s so sad that this wonderful church yard is so overgrown !
You can’t get close to read many stones it needs some tlc
The church was closed up so we couldn’t see inside
Would be lovely to read the history as the undergrowth was fascinating as if that had been part of the church
Still lovely with beautiful views of the ocean ..
Hopefully will be open next time
A donation box would have been great to help with the care of the church yard and graves that are so historical

Stopped on a whim as we travelled up the coast road. Period entrance gateway then through the graveyard to the church. Amazing anchor fouled gravestone as we headed for the church. Somewhat plain interior but a calm tranquil space

On Tuesday (after visiting Barmouth), Hubby and I were travelling along the A496 main road towards Talybont when we noticed this gem of a church. Llanaber is about 1 and a half miles out of Barmouth. We saw a sign for a cemetary and then a convenient layby parking area on the left. This 13 century building is Grade 1 listed. We walked through the gate and down the path to the entrance = an elaborate stone porch doorway. Inside we saw an octagonal font, 2 ancient carved stones, colourful stained-glass windows, an impressive timber roof, and an old wooden chest mounted on the wall.

We attempted to walk all around the sloping graveyard but it was too overgrown. Apparently, there are 12 Commonwealth war graves here. We did see several large ornate headstones. We then walked down to the railway bridge and admired the coastal view.

For info, there was a notice on the lychgate which said that the church and graveyard would be closed between Monday 2.7.18 and Friday 10.8.18 for conservation/maintenance work. I, therefore, recommend you visit here after this time.
