Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dropped in on Friday afternoon after walking thru' town from the campsite.
Intention was to have a 20 minute stop for a beer, ended up staying over 2 hours.
When we got there the place was heaving, loads of golfers just back from an annual day out fundraising, this time for Beatsons Cancer Charity where they raised over £840..... amazing.
We were only sat a few minutes with our dog under the table when the golfing head guy (Alex) came over and made sure our dog would be ok as he was about to announce trophy winners etc, and it may get a bit loud...then a buffet, then raffle, and if dog was going to be nervous we could leave.
Our dog was chilled so we stayed, and within 15 minutes we were invited to partake in some tremendous buffet food that the manager had arranged for the golfers.
We politely refused their offer as this was a locals day, but we did buy raffle tickets.
The place was buzzing so we had another couple of drinks, and were asked at least 6 times if we wanted food, which we always declined.
Finally Alex thrust 2x paper plates in our hands and ordered us to eat.... so we had a burger and some fries, although there was loads of other food on offer.
The food was delicious, and the raffle that followed would draw crowds at the Edinburgh Fringe festival as it was hilarious.
Banter, colourful language, accusations of "fix" as the 2x brothers sat nearby won at least 10 prizes. (they looked like Jon Lundstrum from Rangers, but I doubt they were related!)
We have taken note of next years charity golf date, and will definitely book in at Lomond Woods campsite and gatecrash their celebrations again.
A wonderful wee pub with so many characters, wish it was on our doorstep.

Dropped in for a drink, had the dog with us. The girl at the bar was really friendly and took to the wee guy right off. Ended up sitting talking to us while spoiling him with treats and pets.
Decent choice of beer and had my favourite rum (not many do).
Recommended and will be back soon.

Asked for 2 cokes, my 23 year old daughter didn't have ID and so we were turned away, I have since checked UK alcohol regulations and if the person is 16 and over and has no intention of consuming alcohol they can legally be served. Wont be back and will tell friends of the poor service.

Staying by Loch Lomond and popped in here as it turned cold, what a cosy place!
We could only stay for a couple of drinks (me and hubby), lovely fire heating the place, hubby happy watching footie while I chilled.
It's a bar for the locals so don't expect tourist stuff.
My hubby would be happy to be sent to the Dog House more often and so would I!
Wish we could have stayed longer.

Very helpful and friendly staff and good atmosphere. However, my friend needed to use the disabled facilities which were not readily available. The toilet was basically used as a storage cupboard which had to be cleared out and made it very difficult to gain access even when it was clear due to the mess in the corridor.

We had been for a walk around the park for a couple of hours after having a picnic lunch after arrived in Balloch, Checked into our accomodation for the night and then went for a cruise on Loch Lomond. It was such a beautiful afternoon and quite hot bearing in mind it was late September. We were quite thirsty and after having a wander around Balloch as well we decided that the Dog House was the place we were going to have a pint and a rest in a local pub before going back to our digs and then having tea. We went in the main bar which for around 4pm on a Friday afternoon were surprised how busy it was, clearly popular with the locals but very welcoming to tourists as well. Very nice pint of lager and lime, just the right amount of lime for me, often they are very mean when you have a lager and lime with the lime but this was perfect. Nice local pub with good selection.
