Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited Loch Lomond as a tourist/visitor. If you have 3 full days in Glasgow, I suggest that you spend half a day here because of the views and it's nice to take a stroll/walk next to the biggest lake in Scotland. You can have a pinic here on the expansive grass here.
To get here from Glasgow city centre, there's the Scottish Rail departing every 30 mins and the journey takes about 30 mins as well. So factor that into your planning. I think there's a bus service bringing you to Loch Lomond as well. However, I don't have the details for that.
There's a restaurant and bar near the train station. If you are in need for a bite/drink, there's the place for you.

We visited Loch Lomond on a sunny, bright day. Armed with good hiking shoes, there are some very nice trails to walk on. The views from the higher altitude areas are unbelievable. The beaches are excellent for picnics. Was pleasantly surprised that there were so many options for Vegetarians in the cafes there.

I visited there today as I have many times before - lovely home baking.. however have become increasingly concerned about food hygiene at busy times. Today my 3 year old daughter was givne a sandwich with several things stuck to it from the previous sandwich! No cleaning boards between then - huge risk for allergy sufferers not to mention hygiene. I then went back to get a cake - whilst waiting in the queue Iobserved several breaches of any basic hygiene codes. the assistants were all 'gloved' whic was allegedly shorthand for do anything you want and you are compliant with food safety. The assistants were handling (and I mean Handling!) all the stuff in boxes for sandwiches - fish, eggs, onions etc and then giving out cakes withe the same gloved hands- with visible unused tongs for the purpose!.
When I pointed this out the woman behind the counter grabbed my tea from me told me to leave and to write a letter of complaint to her- it transpired she was the owner and she was suggesting I write to her as they were fully compliant with regulations. She was really abusive! So I suggest you go to Jenners or one of the other restaurants- I'll take it further but worry about anyone getting bad allegic reaction or food poisoning or maybe worse from the owner!
Didn't let it spoil our day out but won't be back

Three of us were making a 4 days tour of Scotland and 1st day ,we had been taken , to such a magical place ,which is one of the best place to enjoy " Loch Lomond .The long drive from Stirling was fabulous ,scenery were beautiful and the town was amazing , specially for the visitors from 'Gulf states , though we missed the Sea plane ride and a boat tour,at Loch , I would have loved the speed boat ride ,If there wouldn't be rain and two of us wouldn't have " cruise , ship / boat phobia ". Worth visiting and having a walk around .
We drove back along the coast, driving down to little coves, boat yards ,heading along the coast line for further exploration. There are lots of boat trips, all offering a magnificent view of the loch, river , Mountains and the shore line.Fortunately we were very well looked after by our Scottish host Salman Tariq .
thinking of visit again next year with some better plannings :-)

What a breathtaking area this is, a boat trip on the Loch is the best way to see all around the Loch and gain information on the heritage and culture, plenty of children’s play areas as well as picnic areas, well worth seeing.

When visiting Scotland, one should visit this iconic area at least once. A varied and deep history, you can just imagined the souls that have passed this way through out history. "You take the high road, I'll take the low road".

Hi
how to get to Loch Lomond from Glasgow with public transportation please?
what would you recommend for touring around the loch on foot? ( we plan to spend a day there )
is there a boat ride accessible available within walking distance ?
I heard that the northern part of the loch is beautiful in a boat ride, is it possible to get there from the coach stop ?
thank you very much

Trains every 30 mins connect from Glasgow to Balloch. Journey time about 40 mins.
You won't "tour around the loch on foot in a day" as the loch is 22 miles long and about 5 miles wide at the southern end. Depends how serious you are about walking. There is some very easy lochside access at Balloch where you can visit the Country Park or walk to Loch Lomond Shores - a big shopping area by the water but you won't see much of the loch. If you want a good walk then walk up the first section of the Three Lochs Way - search for the website - where you will get peace and quiet and a great view over the Loch and Ben Lomond. You could walk on over the hill to Helensburgh which is a fascinating town and then travel back from there by train to Glasgow. Highly recommended.
You can take a loch cruise from Balloch Sweeney's Cruises which will take you through the islands or to Luss a village on the western shore.
The northern part is of the loch is narrower and has few islands - its all beautiful BTW. If you want to visit there from Glasgow in a day then you'd need to take a Citylink coach to Tarbet where you can cruise with Cruise Loch Lomond boats. Walking options there are more difficult to get an elevated loch view without climbing a mountain.
There are lots of options but 1 day is a bit short to enjoy the delights of Loch Lomond. Have fun!
