The location within the woodland provides the perfect setting for the centre and a natural backdrop for our daily flying shows. We have nearly 40 Birds of Prey & Owls. - Yan J2 contributionsA great experience. We did the flying experience today and despite the rain, we had a great time. The centre is well laid out and spotlessly clean, they have a wide selection of birds from all over the world on display and you can see how well they are cared for. Adele who did the flying experience with us was friendly, very informative and clearly very passionate about the welfare of the birds. We will be back for sure.Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad you enjoyed your experience. Unfortunately the weather hasn't been very kind to us this year, but we carry on. Looking forward to seeing you the next time you visit.Written 21 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 October 2023
- ValN29 contributionsSuper Bird of Prey CentreMy very close friend runs and owns this lovely place and my daughter and I visited twice during our short trip to Scotland. As usual, we were made to feel extremely welcome and had a first class visit. I recently sponsored the three Red Footed Falcons (Snap, Crackle and Pop..great names) and my daughter and I have a joint sponsorship of "Gonzo" the baby Spectacled Owl. I'm also lucky enough to have a sponsorship with the beautiful Orla, the Golden Eagle. The Centre is well run, well kept and the birds all look amazing thanks to a dedicated group of people. The Flying Shows are fun and very interesting thanks to the very knowledgeable Bird Handlers. Each show offers a different experience. The Education Cabin is worth a look with lots of interesting display items and facts. Pop into the Shop too where there is a good range of products to purchase for the young to the older visitors (check out the pewter bird of prey pins ☺️). The Centre is easily found, based at Loch Lomond Shores and if you are in the area please visit...you won't be disappointed. I'm extremely proud to be able to support this gem of a place and will continue do so.Dearest Val. It was a pleasure to see you and Lisa, as always. I greatly value your friendship and support over the years, especially over the last twelve months, ;-) Your sponsorships are greatly appreciated, and I hope you get as much pleasure and satisfaction from being part of the centre as I do, having you involved. Thank you so much for your wonderful review and your kind words, you describe the centre exactly as I want people to view it, and you recognise the committment and dedication of our staff. Yes, the pewter pins were a fantastic addition to the range, thanks to you, :-) You are most welcome here any time, we all feel you are becoming part of the "crew", and appreciate your continued committment to us and the centre. You are a very special lady and continue to amaze me with how much you support me and offer advice. I look forward very much to seeing you next time. Thank you once again for your lovely review.Written 21 October 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 10 October 2023

- BOFA BOYBridge of Allan, United Kingdom1,396 contributionsQUITE EXCELLENT AND WELL WORTH A VISIT.We visited recently as a large family group, with mixed ages of children and had a really fantastic time. On arrival at reception you are given a wristband that allows entry all day, which means that you can return at any time. So if you miss the first flying display you can return to watch the next one at your leisure. The education areas are extremely informative, as are the flying displays. Clearly the staff really enjoy what they do and they are extremely knowledgable about all the characteristics of the birds. The aviaries and bird housing areas are exceptionally clean and tidy. All adults, children and grand children in our party really enjoyed the days visit very much and would recommend anyone else in the area to consider a visit.Thank you for your comments Mark, much appreciated.Written 26 March 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 December 2023

The centre is great as it has a large variety of birds of prey and all the staff are really friendly. Hannah was really knowledgeable, we had young kids with us and even though they couldn’t take part in the experience they were kept entertained. It was well worth the money and I would fully recommend it if you are in the area.Hi Emma, thank you. We are glad you enjoyed meeting the Owls and visiting the centre. - moononthebonesBristol, United Kingdom3 contributionsGo for the flight displayWe had a good time walking around on a rainy day. There was a short time that meant we got to see the flying display, which was the best part. The demonstrators were informative, funny and engaging. There were plenty of displays to explain the birds and they were impressive. There isn't any cover here, so dress for the weather, but you are close to Loch Lomond Shores. We were there for a bit over an hour so it's decent for the price.Thank you for your comments. We are so pleased you enjoyed your visit, despite the weather. - Gabrielle B6 contributionsUnforgettable experience!I had an absolutely incredible experience at the Loch Lomond Birds of Prey Centre! I booked a 2-hour 1:1 session to learn about and handle birds of prey, and it exceeded all my expectations. Hannah, Adel, and Matthew were amazing guides, and I had the privilege of working with hawks, falcons, owls, and even a magnificent Golden Eagle named Orla. My session was so engaging that it ran long, and to my delight, they allowed me to sit in on the falconry show as well. It was an exhilarating experience to have these majestic birds swooping over our heads. The value for the experience is outstanding, and it truly made my trip special. The center's location in Balloch Park added to the experience, with its beautiful surroundings. I arrived early and had the chance to enjoy breakfast, do some shopping, and even visit the aquarium before my session. Overall, it was easily the best day of my vacation so far. Thank you to the incredible staff at the Loch Lomond Birds of Prey Centre for an unforgettable experience!Thank you so much for your wonderful review. It is always rewarding when participants in our experiences are so enthusiastic and willing to learn. Unfortunately we didn't look before visiting as we would've loved to see the birds flying or book an experience, but just seeing all the birds was worth it!Thank you very much for your comments. Brilliant flying shows and gorgeous birds.
We had a lovely day popping in and out of the centre to see the birds and watch the shows. The Father and Son team who run the centre are clearly very passionate about what they do and the kids picked up on this. We love how they are teaching about one of my fave birds the vulture and how vulnerable they are.
I would recommend visiting here as good value, good entertainment and also helping to support a great team caring for brilliant birds.

We loved this place! The birds are fascinating and clearly well cared for. The staff are passionate about the welfare of the animals and we had a great time at one of the daily flying shows. The entrance price is reasonable, and the wristband allows you to come and go as you please all day. The staff are well prepared for Covid, with sanitising stations and a one way system. Overall, a couple of hours well spent!

Only about 16 people are allowed in because of new restrictions. But it was quiet the day we visited so no queue. Bit sad to see the birds tethered up but suppose this has to be and im sure they are all very well looked after. So nice to get close up to these beautiful birds. We missed the flying display i think it was just twice daily? The staff were on hand to ask questions and the young girl in the ticket office was so friendly and enthusiastic. Glad we took the time to visit.

We had this on our list of things to do before the holiday, it is well worth it, the entry price is incredible value, considering they have a lot of birds to look after, take care off and feed.
Never under estimate the conservation work, rescuing and educating factor that goes into this centre. The display we saw was informative and allowed us to see the birds in a different light, they obviously had a bond with the staff, some funny bits and some magestic parts as well. Bones (the vulture) did a lot of showing off and had pecked the handlers mouth, so respect to Bones. I have seen Owls in the countryside and even handled them before, however to see an owl glide and fly so quietly whilst being so close was a special moment.
The centre is great for a visit, nice people run the centre and it is informative and clean and covid safe. Thank you to all of the staff for making our visit an enjoyable one and thank you to the birds for letting us visit you.

The birds of prey centre is something that you can go through rather quickly and is little bit pricey for what you get for your money.
There are a few types of birds to look at such as owls and eagles and seem to be very friendly however I would like there to be more birds than there is.
The ground is little bit gravelly especially if you are in a wheelchair.
The staff are very nice and tell you a good bit of information on the birds.
There is also no gift shop which is a bit unfortunate.
Overall the experience was good but could've been better such as the price of entry being cheaper and more birds to look at but what there is, is enough to get enjoyment out of the birds of prey centre and I would recommend to go when possible!

Had a brilliant time here today. Going in you get to see so many different birds of prey. The staff were there to ask them any questions and the information boards gives you a background about each of them and what their name is. We were lucky enough to get to go to the show aswell. The birds were swooping and showing off their wings while the staff were telling us about them all. After that we went to visit a little baby barn owl that was just new and was very sweet. The setting is stunning nestled amongst the trees with a little stream running through. The staff were all really friendly and happy to stand and chat and talk about the birds. The bird we saw today with one member of staff was just new and so comfortable with him even though it had just arrived, he was telling us about how much time gets put into the birds continuously so they are very much cared for. They take part in conservation programmes as well with others so it’s doing good work too ! Will definitely be back soon to see how all the birds are getting on ☺️

Very expensive for a very small display, you could walk around it in 10 minutes. The flying display was ok, but they on,ya flew 4 birds in a small area and that didn’t last very long.
It’s okay if you’re visiting the mall and are close by, but don’t make a long trip just for this.

We try to enlighten and educate the visiting public at the same time, both during their walk around the centre and the flying shows. I'm not sure how many flying shows you have seen, but the vast majority of our visitors find them educational, and rate them highly. I suppose it depends on an individual's mood and outlook when they arrive as to what they take from their visit?

We stopped in at the Bird of Prey Centre as we were passing through Loch Lomond for a birthday trip to the highlands. On a cold and rainy day we were not expecting much from the visit, however, we were really surprised and our visit is one of the highlights of our holiday.
All the staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It was clear they cared deeply about what they do and the welfare of the birds. It was great to learn about the unique characteristics of each bird (especially biggles, dink and bones)
Despite the rain, all the handlers worked to put on a really interesting show, we really appreciated the enthusiasm. The staff were very quick to act to ensure the safety of their visitors when a small child got a little too excited and ran beyond the safety point during the show. Well done to Stewart.
Special thanks to Maia for being so hospitable and Stewart for sharing his deep knowledge with us. We can’t wait to visit again.

I don’t appreciate a lecture on how to parent my children before they’ve even had a chance to get it wrong, neither do I expect to be told not to throw rubbish from my wristband on the floor before I’ve been handed the band.
We visited before having children and weren’t spoken to like this, really disappointing and made for a very unwelcoming start to our visit.
It was also disappointing to be told (after we’d paid) that there was a very limited capacity for the flying displays and they’d probably be too full for us to attend. I appreciate there are restrictions currently but perhaps be more upfront, or offer more flying displays, or adjust pricing accordingly.
We really enjoyed our honeymoon visit and were looking forward to coming with our children, but unfortunately we won’t be back again, I’ll take them somewhere they (and we) are made to feel more welcome.

Hi Alison,
Sorry you feel that way. I don't think you would have been given a lecture, just advised to make sure the children followed the rules due to social distancing requirements etc. Unfortunately, due to the actions of a few, we have to ensure everyone is aware of the rules. Also, I'm sure the bin for wristband tags was pointed out and you were not "told" not to "throw" your rubbish on the floor.
We do have restrictions on numbers on site, currently 60, which in fairness is not "very" limited. We point out to everyone that if they leave site to come back for the shows, there is no guarantee there would be space.
Also, our prices have not changed for seven years, there is a greater variety of birds now than when you probably visited the last time, and there are two daily flying shows, all for the same price. So the statement regarding "overpriced" is really unfair.
Whether our receptionist was caught on the hop and you misinterpreted what you heard, or maybe you were on your backfoot already, I have no idea. But, going by your comments, I feel you are over-reacting to the situation, particularly as our receptionists are complimented all the time for their courtesy and customer care.
Stewart Robertson,
Owner.

My husband and I enjoyed a visit here on Saturday. The entry price was very reasonable (£8 each) and if we keep our wristbands we can return again another day half price! The centre was very clean and well maintained. The birds were beautiful and looked healthy and happy. We thoroughly enjoyed the flying show. The staff were very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

What do the Hawk or Owl Encounters entail? Is there any handling or is it strictly viewing the animals?
Written 29 February 2024
If you booked one if these experiences you would meet and handle the birds under the supervision of a Falconer. Highly recommended thing to do.
Written 21 April 2024
When we went due to bird flu restrictions they where not flying and also they where building a new area for them to do fly shows. Having spoke to owner not sure when this was but if you ring them the owner was brilliant and would give you a true picture

This is probably a silly question but are dogs allowed into the centre ? Thanks

Sorry, strictly no dogs allowed.

It has come to my notice that every now and again some people complain about these wonderful birds of prey being tethered to their perches. Do they honestly expect to see Eagles, buzzards and Hawks flying around and not disappearing into the distance? It also astonishes me that the centre is currently sitting at 91% on Tripadvisor, so are the other 91% of people wrong in their views? Perhaps someone can get back to me with an answer?
Written 10 August 2016
Their enclosures are spotless and the birds are clearly all in excellent health. People who complain clearly have no idea about actual bird behavior and do expect the birds to be simply flying free - not at all sure how that would work. The birds are on short tethers when outside on their perches. You can also purchase bird experiences to actually go hunting with the birds - so clearly they are not simply tied up for their entire lives. The smaller birds have no problems in getting lots of flight time - should they want it - in their enclosures. I'm quite sure that the people who complain about the short tethers are the same ones who would complain if the birds were in such large enclosures that they couldn't easily be seen...

Are there any bird guides we can hire to take us birding?
Written 17 March 2015
Hi Linda,
Throughout the year there are a number of organised bird watching activities. If you contact Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, I am sure they will give you a list of planned activities.
Within the Bird of Prey Centre, our wildlife station receives wild birds every day. Over 24 species of wild birds can be seen on the feeders and in the surrounding area.
If I can be of further assistance, please contact me through the contact page on the website for Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre.
Regards,
Stewart Robertson,
Director.
