Set aside a day for hiking up the 985m mountain that is Ben Vorlich. A clear footpath guides hikers up the mountain that is well marked. Some loose stones are present on the footpath and in places it is quite steep so not a mountain for the fainthearted. Took the ascent at a gentle pace, 4.5 hours and the descent 3 hours. More experienced hikers did this in a much quicker time. No toilets or cafe stops on the way up so pack lots of snacks and water. We were well supplied with food and were rewarded with great views from the top.

The cottage was very comfortable, well stocked with anything you might need. Bathrooms were gorgeous. Rooms were very comfortable. Definitely recommend!

Do it on a better day

Great winter walk, just be sure to check the forecast before hand. You have the coice between this and ben vane, both great paths and relatively well pathed to the summit. Didn’t manage to the too of vorlich due to increasingly high winds, great walk all the same.

Absolutely class like

Class walk man. Absolute legendary views at the top of the Loch and surrounding region. Was pure buzzing like. My girlfriend cried on the way down but that’s because she hadn’t cut her toenails haha. Cut your toe nails please before the walk.

Family morning walk

Great walk. Clear pathway up to the top. Stunning views. Arrive early to get a parking space.
Challenging in bits for the kids (7&10) but they made it on their own 2 feet.

Definitely worth visiting!

Great wee find

We’ve just returned from a couple of nights away here. Had a great time and I would highly recommend, perhaps in need of a little TLC but this did not dampen our time away. Such much to do all around. Beautiful part of the country.
