Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a wet day when we came to Bute. Both The Discovery Centre and cinema were still undergoing a refurb, but the Tourist Info Office at the front of the Winter Gardens was open. We chatted to the staff member Margaret for well over an hour. She was lovely and a joy to converse with. I hope her employers see this, recognise it, and give her some kind of reward. We left the island having done very little but feeling really good about the place, due in no small part to herself.

On a very wet, cold and windy day we ventured into this centre. No entrance fee was charged and we spent quite some time looking at very informative displays about Bute and it's history. There were also interactive activities and plenty of comfortable seating to watch the various videos.
The staff were very helpful and friendly with a little bit of banter which made the whole experience worthwhile.
There are many souvenir gifts on sale as well a locally made scarfs, caps etc..
Spend a few moments to look at the statue of Lena Zavoroni, it is beautiful.
On leaving the centre we spent a few moments admiring the wonderful flower beds that surround the centre, unfortunately all the tulips were not in bloom so people who are going to visit after us are in for a colourful spectacular.

Small cinema but excellent screen, sound and super comfortable chairs. Prices are cheap( LESS than £6 for an adult!!!?) and you can have all the snacks you fancy at similar prices to a corner shop but no rip off popcorn.
A relaxing experience: highly recommended especially if followed by a long walk by the sea on the promenade.

There are several interesting displays here and videos to watch should the weather turn a little more British. The statue dedicated to Lena Zavaroni is beautiful and the cards left from fans very touching.
There is a gift shop which offers everything from postcards to expensive tweed handbags and cookery books. What is missing is more local publications (a visit to the library will show you there are plenty to choose from) and more local produced textiles. Having bought tartan wraps for my mum, mum-in-law and myself, I was very disappointed indeed to return home and discover they were made in China.

We were at Rothesay for the day, we nipped into the Discovery Centre. We didn't know what it was until we were in. It's a tourist information centre, a gift shop and a cinema. The whole place is built some years ago, its Victorian build. The tourist information part gives you so much history of how people used to get there in Victorian day. They have a cinema in too x

Wow....just lovely.
What a lovely little cinema with fabulous friendly staff.
Good admission price, spotlessly clean, snack prices kept reasonable.
New comfortable seats.
Was just great. Well worth a visit on a rainy day.

A mine of information within Centre with really interested and helpful staff - especially Catherine. Tasteful gifts for sale and tea/coffee machine available for drinks whilst looking at literature. Lovely old footage on various films.
