Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We eventually found the post code to this site but there is no parking as the only space is for the bus to turn around.
Through a gate is a notice that explains the route up the hill to see the chapel. It is about a 20 minute walk up a steep hill - not for the feint hearted. Having mobility problems I did not get to seeing this site but thought it worth informing other visitors of what to expect.

There is a stillness and spiritual feel to this ancient location. It dates from the iron-age through the early Celtic Church to Viking invasions. It is a devil of a walk up the hill but if your reasonably fit, the climb up is well worth it.

The best things in life come at a premium either in effort or price and so it is with St Blaine's.

First of all is the 2.5 mile trip down a narrow road off the West road, mind, these are Bute miles and seem very much further. Then there's the climb up from the parking area which some may find a quite strenuous ten minutes..

That said, once there, you are rewarded with a place of exquisite beauty having the most hallowed and peaceable atmosphere. View the ancient stones, the Victorian reconstructions, listen to the wind soughing through the leaves of the venerable rowans and sycamores and just enjoy this very beautiful and special place.

the signpost had us distrusting it a bit - just a dead end road? not so, informative boards at the bus turning circle and a well made path with further info.

still not sure, but once cresting the rise the sheer tranquility of the place and sense of peace looking out over the southern tip of the island - people actually lived and worshipped here - no extraneous modern sounds - just as it might have been 500 yrs ago - it that appeals at all don't miss it.

a strenuous walk to view this ruin but well worth the effort, we even had our own little toto to guide us, a small dog met up with us just before this site and became our guide dog until we were safely down on the main road again.

Wonderful preserved ruins of the former St Blanes chapel and Manse, see historically how life was like way back in the early centuries. Great views to Arran and beyond, hilly so take good footwear and usually waterproof clothes. Parking facilities nearby.

My favourite tourist attraction on the island. It's an easy walk (not wheelchair accessible) up to the secluded chapel which is nestled in a small valley and is incredibly peaceful. The information boards are very interesting.
Also, the West Island Way goes right past the chapel. If you foolow it south the route goes though farmland and heathland to the coast and is a good hike for beginners, taking about half an hour each way.

Great location, up the hill with views back down to the sea. A steep 15 min walk up but my 80 yr old Mum made it (with a little help down the bank on the way back) Great bit of history in a super location, well worth a drive out if you like that sort of thing. Bit boggy in parts so where your wellies or walking boots in winter.
