Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I was excited to be able to stop and see this Pict engraved stone. I read about these carvings from the dark ages, and this one is still in relatively good shape. Apparently it was found when someone was renovating their home. The stone was used in the building of the original structure. While little is known of the Pict people at this point, the etching in the stone gives some clues to what the people knew about.

Clach Ard is one of only two Pictish pictographic stones on the Isle of Skye. It is simply by the side of the road and surrounded by a wooden railing. It is in a breath taking spot of the island. The carvings are intriguing. I love exploring for these types of sites.

This Pictish Stone is on a road opposite residential properties. If you go west along the A850 and take the right turning before the River Snizort then second left you will find it. It is also well located on Google Maps.
Interesting to find only two have been found on Skye.

Most likely you will need an appreciation of the time period and meaning behind a stone like this to appreciate visiting it. It is located on a mound of dirt in a residential area and has no designated parking area. It is worth a quick look on the way by, particularly if you are into ancient markers like it.

After a confusion with an event at Skeabost village hall I decided to go on a walk! Follow the path until it directs you upwards towards the stone, my google map app was useless so keep the faith with the footpath directions!! Nobody else was there when I visited on a quiet afternoon in May, so I had time to just sit nect to the stone and take in the sights and sounds. Vety impressive as only 2 such stones found on Skye

We came especially to see the Pictish stone. It is next to some private homes out in nowhere. It was really exciting for us and I was very glad that someone recommended it to me

Hard to find unless you know where it is or on small minibuscoach trip like i was, its only chance you will get to see one of these stones as the other is locked away in dunvegan castle on skye which is not on public view, so go if you get chance. It was found in this residential area so thats why it was placed here, there is no public car park, just small country road but very intresting to see.

You could easily drive right past this ancient stone but it is well worth stopping especially if you love deciphering the different images on the stone. It’s really not that hard to find. You can see it from the road.

We looked hard, but....
So wanted to find this, sadly not possible! Perhaps our map reading. Good luck is you're off on a similar hunt!
