Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This studio is full of stunning hand-made items of clothing, jewellery and gifts. The workmanship and attention to detail is superb. I was made very welcome by the owner and I could have happily spent all day there.

We visited Jaine's workshop and were greeted with a high quality product and studio. Jaine gave us an overview of silk weaving and gave us a demonstration of how she creates her beautiful garments. We purchased two scarves as presents which the recipients will be very pleased with. We will definitely call again when next on skye. Recommend a visit

My husband and I arrived at Skye Silks and our expectations were far surpassed. What a beautiful shop and weaving studio it is! The colours, designs and layout are simply breath-taking. Jaine Mahon, the owner, goes above and beyond. She showed us how the weaving loom works as she worked her magic and told us about the workshops she runs. I honestly never realised just how much knowledge, skill and talent goes into making one scarf! She has a wealth of knowledge (30 years+) about the industry and it shows in her work. Her passion shines through in the eye-catching colours and designs she creates which are beautifully laid out in her shop. She was so friendly too. We arrived as strangers and felt we left as friends - we were made to feel very welcome. We highly recommend this wonderful gem. It is well worth a visit and her hand-made silk products are stunning.

A beautiful weaving studio, where you can watch Jaine hand weaving with delicate silk in gorgeous hand dyed colours to create scarves, clothes, and a host of other absolutely unique items to wear and for the home.
Jaine has been weaving for 30 plus years and is extremely knowledgeable about her craft. I took my partners 8 year old son, who was amazed to watch cloth being created on the loom, while Jaine explained the process to him.
She is also a gifted seamstress, offering a bespoke service for those wishing to commission a particular item. She was working on a kimono style jacket while we were there in breathtaking shades of blue and purple silk.
We also loved the Japanese woven cord jewelry- and learning about the history of that too.
A gift from Syke Silks is always a one-off. I bought hand woven scarves for friends who absolutely loved them - even my brother in law, who is notoriously difficult to gift!
I highly recommend this Studio as a fun and interesting experience with a warm and engaging host, and as a great place to buy gifts... or something really special for yourself!
