World's Fair Park is nestled in downtown Knoxville and close to a few neat shops. Otherwise, the park itself doesn't offer much excitement, it's a nice place to walk and the Sphere is nice to see. Maybe it's more interesting when events are held there.
You've got a giant sculpture (Sunsphere), flags from many countries, a monument to WWI and WWII veterans, and plenty of benches to sit on. What more could you want in an urban park? Plus, it's close to the Museum of Art and has free parking.

The ride up in the elevator can be fun. And the viewing deck is enclosed with glass. Here is a link to the site that provides a description and photos. Also, on the interior wall are pictures. Nearby, like catercorner is the wonderful two-story Knoxville Art museum (with free admission and a parking lot), with a deck (for snacking and viewing), and the view includes the tower.
