We have taken several train excursions, and this is one of the best! We took the full-day Hiwassee Loop trip. We parked adjacent to the L&N train depot in downtown Etowah, picked up our tickets in the train depot, then walked 2 blocks to catch...More

Nothing fancy but comfortably refurbished train cars (ours was 1948) with small snack bar onboard. The trip winds around the banks of the Hiwassee and Occoee rivers and climbs a loop up Bald Mountain. Very enjoyable scenic views. The tiny town of Copperhill has various...More

We took the all day train ride from the L& N Depot to Copperhill, TN. Although it was raining, the trip was a shining light in the clouds and gloom. The bus ride to the train was interesting. These old school buses have seen their...More

I never have been on a train ride before so we decided this would be a fun trip for our anniversary. We really enjoyed it; the staff was friendly and the conductor was great, even bringing out his banjo to play a few tunes! The...More

If you like the fun and romance of an old fashioned train ride coupled with beautiful views, then this trip is for you. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The train is comfortable and sometimes gets a little cool, so bring a jacket. The staff is friendly...More

We went here to pick up our tickets for the Hiwassee Train Ride. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Since we are disabled and elected to drive to the train station, they gave us directions. We will plan another ride very soon.

It you like trains and mountains you will love this day trip. Make your resivations in advance. This is about an eight hour trip so if you have young children be prepared. The dome cars are expensive but very nice, most people don’t know this...More

We rode the Hiwassee River Train on July 29, 2018. We sprung for the dome car, based on other reviews I read. We wound up seated at a table across from two strangers, who were friendly enough, but it's very odd to sit face-to-face with...More

Don't remember the actual price but it's on the website. We sat in the top of the dome car, great view but it's nearly as good on the lower level and looked like there was more room.

If you do ride the bus, it is very crowded. When the bus drops you off, it is about 100 feet from where you board the bus. Not far at all. There is a covered ramp to get to the train. Also, the seats in Coach do recline.

Should be, particularly if it's a nice light rain to bring out the colors of the foliage. You're only outside on the walk from the station to the bus (or your car) and from the bus to the train.
