We were passing through Sioux Falls on a family road trip and our 9 year-old son wanted to stop. He loves history and learning about WWII. We found this to be a good quick stop and they have a ton of interesting artifacts and information....More

I visited the (outside part of the) Memorial early in the morning on a Thursday. There was some traffic noise originating from the road in front of the Memorial. However, if one makes the effort to walk in and around the Memorial, the noise disappears...More

Had a couple of hours to kill before catching my flight and decided to stop in. Easy to find, very accessible parking lot in front of the main entrance. Certainly not at all a large place with a few key artifacts outside. There were certainly...More

This interesting Memorial is located east of I-29 on West 12th St. A concrete outline of the battleship can easily be seen from the road. An inviting visitors center will give one a full history of its service during WWII from 1942-47. Known to the...More

Loved this museum so much going back to bring the kids to see it. Tons of information about almost everything displayed. Such great history to continue to share with everyone!

We accessed online information to read about the exhibit and enjoyed it even in a downpour. It was easy to pull off the street and park that day.

USS South Dakota (the third ship to carry this name) was cut up for scrap in 1947. So there is no "ship" here! What is presented is the shape of a ship, with authentic guns, anchors and propellers. We thought it was lovely. Then on...More

I was pleasantly surprised how much history was here on display. The outside of the building didn't look like much would be on display. It is free to take a look; I would recommend it.

Good place to view some WWII history if you're in the area. There is no actual ship, just pieces of it and a lot of memorabilia from those who served on her. It's worth it to stop by once if you're in the area.

No charge, but they do accept donations. Great area to learn about the USS SD. Inside is a small museum area and great info and things to see on the grounds.

Oh it is not a complete ship. It is parts of the ship reassembled to the shape of the ship. It is by no means the big complete ship, but everything there is very interesting and educationa. No steps that you have to climb... More
