Good time walking around this in the morning before leaving the hotel/campground. The guy running the place is wonderful.

I am a rock hound so the dust did not bother me. The gentleman who was there was very informative and we felt comfortable.

Nice 15 minute video sets the stage, and then fairly easy self guided walking tour. The map was excellent and included explanations of artifacts. This is not an exciting type of tour, but is interesting and informative. Great way to get some background on the...More

We saw the sign for this place on the highway on our way from rapid city to Deadwood. It's up a steep and rocky dirt road behind a "resort" place which seemed more like a trailer park without any trailers. When you get to the...More

We enjoyed the orientation movie and found it quite informative. The museum and the rock shop are both nice. The scenic view is lovely. We enjoyed the wildlife. Although the ground is uneven in places, we enjoyed our walk, and we found the petrified wood...More

This was a neat place to stop and see many examples of petrified wood. It really isn't a petrified forest but more like a bunch of petrified wood in a nice, wooded area. The short hike is really cool with very scenic views of the...More

We lucked into this place when it was very quiet. We had no trouble driving our motorhome up and down the hill and had a nice picnic in the parking area. THe info presented during the movie and in the museum really helped us put...More
