Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

While they have supposedly worked on the campground at this point I would not stay there. I think it has potential and could be a gem if they just shut it down completely and do it right. RIght now it is not very appealing. When we drove thru we did not see a single campsite that we would want to stay in. The campground road is in bad shape.

Trails are currently closed. Website states that is due to flooding. A ranger told us they were under contruction.

Nice playground for kids.

Lake access is the best thing going here.

Very limited hours that you can actually speak with someone who works here. When we arrived early afternoon, no one was avaliable to check us in... we were left to figure things out on our own. The road to the main camp area is in desperate need of maintenance, very precarious for pulling larger campers. The camping area itself was mediocre. One of the two bathroom/shower houses was closed without any indication on their site before booking. There are areas near the back lakeside sites that are not well maintained and would be a complete eyesore if you set up near them. There is a main road over the lake which is a well traveled... it's close enough that you hear constant road noise, cars with loud bass, and large semi trucks with loud exhaust. Know that there are limited store options in the area, so be sure to bring any camping supplies you will need. Of the SC state parks we've stayed at over the years, this was our least favorite.

We visited here because it was just a little drive from Hickory Knob SP. upon getting to the parking area we immediately see a large building housing the office, bathrooms, and a nice picnic area overlooking the lake. There is also a nice playground area nearby. We drove the very narrow and rough circular road to check out the cabins n camping area. Road needs work but nice camping area.

Visited mid morning on a Saturday, we were the only people at the office/swimming area. Beautiful water views. Clean park. Did see picnic tables and playground on site. Hiking trails available. Drove in the camping area- look good. Canoe rentals. I believe there is also a boat ramp in the park too.

Nice and quaint state park. Stayed at campsite #63 on the water.. Camp hosts were super friendly. Clean bathrooms. No "fire pit/ring" but a rustic one with rocks near the water. Parking/tent pad was roomy, but I set up tent in the grass closer to the shore. Will definitely visit again.

Has a nice covered picnic area in a building on the lakefront with nice lakefront areas to swim and set your belongings. There is a nice playground area near the lakefront. Road leading into park could us some repair.

This park has not been maintained at all. The roads are full of potholes. We could not go hiking on any trail because there were so many trees down. It appeared that all the trees(hundreds) had been down for quite a while, and no attempt had been made to do any cleanup. It was a wasted park fee.

A quick stop by to check out Baker Creek State Park. The area is well maintained, a nice park office with visitor center and ample parking. Enjoyed having some quiet time in the woods and soaking up the surroundings. Good for a nice peaceful stroll.

Even tho the roads are not the best the sites had beautiful views . We especially enjoyed the sunset on the west side. Some sites have easy access to the lake. Bath house was clean and showers were great. We did have to call Hickory Knob Park to make our reservations as the office was closed when we arrived. However, it was not a problem. Gates were not closed at night. Would recommend this park.

We arrived on a Saturday but had reservations for a pull-thru site driving a 32’ Motorhome. Our area next to lake was crowded with families already enjoying water sports, but by Sunday most had left and almost no one remained by the time we pulled out on Monday. Driving to the park cannot rely on google maps/GPS as we were off about a mile before calling to get clear directions. There are some really nice lake sites with power/water only (sites #70’s and #90s range) that depending on where you choose, can either watch sunrise or sunset across the lake. The facilities (bathhouses, dump station, office, pavilion, electrical boxes, etc.) we saw are outdated and could use upgrades by the state. Park ranger was very nice and a resident onsite. Paid ($45 total) for two nights, overall we would come back but maybe on a weekday to get choice spots.
