Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stopped at the Railroad Center to check out the train. There is a 10 dollar admission fee that get you a guided tour of the train. This is a very nicely restored collection of rail cars and a locomotive. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. the cars are air conditioned and are laid out so you can walk car to car. There are stairs to get to the car level and a lift is available. Parking is easy at the entrance that is in an old bank building, they also have a few train models on display. Check it out.

Museum is a bit of an over reach, as the museum itself is small and doe snot have a lot of items. What is the highlight, is the guided tour of a static display consisting of a steam locomotive and four cars. One of the cars is the President's car from Piedmont and Northern Railway, a line that no longer exists in that form.

We took our teenager here. Very picturesque location on Main Street. It's free admission, each member of the family learned something. I had a chance to view original newspaper printing equipment, teen was fascinated with the interactive electrical exhibit, and husband watched the film on 2nd floor. There is also a one-room school exhibit. The museum needs to update a few things, but in general, it was a very pleasant experience. They have some merchandise in front.

The historic train museum is under renovation at present but when it was open it is really nice.I had never been on a train and this train makes you feel like you are actually on a train. The train had an feel of the earlier time. I like the dinnig car with the eating area formally set-up. This is anice place for family to enjoy and learn a little about the history.

This museum is such a surprise for a town like Greenwood. The exhibits are fascinating and well done. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and we love the computerized map of downtown Greenwood in the 1920's. Good work, Greenwood!

I took my Grandson who loves trains. He loved it. We walked through every car. He asked a lot of questions and thank goodness I had most of the answers.

The Railroad Historical Center is located at 906 S. Main, not too far from the downtown museum. The real gems in this museum are the static train displays. Cosmetically the equipment has been restored, and unlike many collections the equipment has been protected from the elements by a long shed roof. What is amazing is that so much of the equipment is original, including hardware and lighting fixtures in the cars. Craig was our tour guide and he not only took us on a walk through of the train, but shared many stories of life in Greenwood when he was growing up. Allow 45-60 minutes for the tour. If you love trains, this is well worth a visit.

I was a local police officer in Greenwood in the late 70's. My Lieutenant worked at the Museum security at night. He constantly went on and on about how great this place is. He could make you feel like you were there. He was a great man..Woodrow Tipton..I haven't been in many years but when I go back to Greenwood I will go to the Museum guaranteed.
