This trail is on an old abandoned rail line. It is flat and paved. While the beginning part goes past a rough looking part of town, no one bothered us, in fact they waved to us. The interpreted signs are worn out or damaged. This is a out and back trail and the only real parking is at the Railroad museum, which you should visit also.

It’s a flat, paved trail. Not really scenic. Rather urban. Interesting graffiti. I’d not do it again.

The heritage trail is a great trail to run or ride bikes on. It goes from south greenwood over to the Cross Creek Mall area.

Built along Greenwood’s abandoned railroad lines, the Heritage Trail extends 2.5 miles and offers an excellent opportunity for biking, walking, jogging and skating. The trail can be accessed at the trailhead on South Main Street in the City of Greenwood (next to The Palmetto Bank). For a location map,click here. It may not be the best area but so far I have found the area safe to run. The entrance is located between the rail road museum and the international cafe downtown GWD
