I passed by this Church from the Public Library I had been visiting on the same roadway while visiting Charleston. The incident, although tragic and traumatic, is misunderstood and has been antagonistic in the media. What happened here regrettably was totally unavoidable in my estimation....More

Wanted to pay my respects to all the victims of this terrible crime. We had just watched the showtime special active shooter. So it was really fresh in our minds. What a terrible thing to happen to these people who were just there to pray...More

Mother Emanuel Church was the scene of a terrible tragedy, but is a place of hope and peace. The church is so beautiful. People visit to pray in front of the gates. They leave flowers and other items to show support. I can't pass by...More

I was there for a memorial walk for the 2nd Anniversary of the murder of the nine members and the 5 injured. An uplifting, emotional experience. A strong community which will not give into Hate.

In visiting Charleston, I was compelled to visit and pay my respects to an institution and an icon. I unfortunately was not able to attend services, but the structure and the grounds were immaculate, and felt truly holy and anointed. I would highly reccomend travelers...More

Enjoyed Easter Sunday service at this wonderful mostly African-American Church. We had decided, before our Charleston trip, to spend Easter Sunday here...service was uplifting as was the pastor's sermon and the music ...just grand.
