The oldest synagogue that has continually had an active congregation in the U.S. Very interesting docent tour. Great Judaica gift shop, too.

A former Charlestonian suggested we visit and it is architecture worth seeing, the domed ceiling, the ark and the entire sanctuary with an animal credible organ is quite amazing. The outside is stately and commanding.

We were very interested to learn of the history of the temple and the congregation and their role in the Reform Jewish movement and slavery. Well worth the time!
