I drove a bit out of my way after reading about these ruins. I was really excited to see them, but we were stopped at the security gate and not allowed to enter. A real disappointment that there is no public access.
These tabby ruins are some of the finest in the area & one of the only with a still intact roof on one of the out buildings. The self tour plaques are well diagramed & provide all the information for you to enjoy your stroll...More
It really is worth the side trip. Dataw Island isn't far off the beaten path and it's got a great golf course.
