If you are a history buff, the Beautfort History Museum is worth a visit. The interpretative component is average but the tourist infor is very helpful for visitors to Beautfort and the low country.

There were no artifacts to see, only poster type wall hangings to read. This should be on the internet, not in a museum. The cost of $7 per person was not worth it.

What a good view into a new National Park. The history museum is nice but the reconstruction center just built across the street is fascinating. Before the war ended the slaves were schooled and brought into a new free society.More

We usually begin at a city's visitor's center because that is where you will save a lot of time deciding the best way to get to know the area. Staff is busy and friendly. The center is located in an old Arsenal erected in 1796...More

We loved our visit. Very helpful docent. Lots of Beaufort history here. It is small so an hour would be sufficient time, but it has lots of interesting facts and artifacts from Beaufort.
