We drove from Beaufort - it's only about half an hour. The history of the lighthouse was documented well by the historical markers in the park. We walked up to the top, and enjoyed the level-by-level explanations that occurred on each landing. Very enjoyable experience,...More

Hunting Island is a great place to see palm trees and live oaks meet the sea. Climb the lighthouse and read the plaques around the grounds. A great place to bring a picnic lunch and hunt for seashells.

We went to the lighthouse after a day in Beaufort, hoping for a "drive-by" view. Wrong. We could not see the lighthouse from the road or the gate of the state park. It was also raining. There were 6 of us in the car and...More

Easy climb with facts on each level. Beautiful view from top. Would have given a 5 but mosquitoes were horrendous. Wear bug repellemt and you will enjoy it more.

Well documented with remains of original home laid. Beach is beautiful and pet friendly. Plenty of parking but not sure this holds for summer months, Getting a SC State Parks pass for seniors is the way to go!

This lighthouse is in excellent shape. If you climb it, there are plenty of landings to take a break. There are outstanding views at the top!

Visited on a beautiful, sunny day. Blue sky and white clouds made for a great photo op. Will definitely return.

The nominal fee to enter the park and the $2 charge to climb the lighthouse are well worth it for the beauty of the view from the top. The displays inside and out about the history of the spot are well-done and kept simple. The...More

Excellent lighthouse. A wealth of information on the tour. This has 167 steps, with plenty of landings to take a rest, if you need to. There is an information placard on each landing, so you can stop and read about the lighthouse at each one....More

You must be 44 inches tall to climb. Our youngest child wasn’t tall enough, but she was allowed to go in and at least take a look up.

As I understand the the lighthouse is fine, but the fence around it didn't survive. The island is devastated all the infastructure needs rebuilt. The only part of the island open is at the pier. .
