We wanted to see the Ocean House and the Watch Hill Lighthouse. The Ocean House was something to see. We didn't go inside, however, it make for a great photo. We drove around the corner down to the beach parking lot and parked. Since it...More
The town was nearly deserted in October when we went. Beware: no public bathrooms around in the off season!
The beach itself is gorgeous. There appears to be only one or two public access points. One is a skinny dirt/rock path (fun face: right next...More
Made it to the marina just in time to park and run toward the dune where you can see the sunset best. Spectacular view! Will absolutely try to make it back before we leave Rhode Island so we can see and do more. With the...More
With 2 girls (9 & 12) there are certain criteria that are essential (of equal importance):
2. Food (because we were staying in a hotel, it's not like we can pack a cooler)
3. Clean beach
4. No steep drop-offs, undertow, sharp rocky...More
What a surprise, lovely nice and clean beach. Warm water. Lovely view. You really have to go out of your way to find this place. It was our first time here, at a friend's suggestion. We didn't come super early and had to park in...More
We love this beach and visit often. Over the years, however, it has changed as far as attention needed for cleanliness. The location is spectacular. The beach itself does need raking daily and holes filled where children dig during the day. The seaweed/grass is just...More
Have loved this little beach since I started going there about 15 years ago. I love the little path through the beach roses, the sandy dunes, the beautiful houses, and the water here is the best! Sandy beach, waves, warm water, what else could you...More

The fee was 1) wasting an entire afternoon looking for parking in this small town that doesn't want visitors. 2) Having arthritis and unable to walk a mile up a massive hill to the beach, I paid off someone in a condo development to use their spot ($50).
3) Weeks later, received a $75.00 ticket in the mail because we made the sinful mistake of deciding -- after driving two hours and looking for parking for 75 minutes - to stop looking and stop for less than 90 seconds to discharge young teens who then had to walk with all our gear unaccompanied and find the beach solo. Apparently, if you go to this town, which is nothing special and has some truly nondescript basic shops and a pathetically smelly bad deli, you are supposed to haul your gear for a mile to their beach, where there is no lifeguard, food, water, or anything extraordinary. You arrive and wonder why the heck anyone cares about this stretch of beach when there are plenty of others nearby that don't hate you before you even arrive in theIr pseudo-pristine town!! It's a complete waste of time. Think of a "blank" show, and Watch Hill is it. What a joke of a town and shiatty little beach!! Do NOT waste your day.
