About
In short, Liberty Magic is dedicated to elevating the art of magic. On the same block where Harry Houdini mesmerized Pittsburgh crowds in 1916, Liberty Magic is an intimate, speakeasy performance space dedicated to the art of sleight of hand and prestidigitation. With less than 70 seats in four rows, Liberty Magic offers a one-of-a-kind experience that is easy to access and hard to forget.

- Claire MAllison Park, Pennsylvania1 contributionComfortable venue &fun Show for everyoneMr Messado's School of Magic was thrilling, and full of excitement for my 7 & 9 year olds... and this 41 year old too. Fantastic event for everyone. (the "general seating" made me hesitate, but the venue was comfortable ultimately very comfortable. Plenty of room.)Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 March 2024
- David LPittsburgh, Pennsylvania23 contributionsLiberty Magic is Fun!We've been to every show that Liberty Magic has done, and this Magician, Shawn Farquhar, was the best. While we rate most of the magicians as about a B, with some a little higher or lower, Shawn was an A+ from beginning to end. Very engaging personality, and we are still talking about his tricks a day later ("how did he do that"?) Liberty Magic is a lot of fun.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 March 2024
- Michael B74 contributionsAmazing and memorable magic experience! What a fun and unique evening! We attended a Liberty Magic show while in town visiting colleges and what a treat it was! The theater is intimate. Our sleight of hand magician so skilled and engaging. We paid extra for the skeleton key experience and got to participate in the show and attend a special Q and A session after the show. Definitely a highlight of our trip. Highly recommend supporting Liberty Magic!Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 March 2024
- MsScarlet59Bethel Park, Pennsylvania51 contributionsUnique entertainment, talented performers, charming venueThis was our second visit to Liberty Magic. It is a charming small venue- only 66 seats- so every seat is close to the action. The show was History of Magic: Part 1 , which was kind of a blend of sketch comedy, traditional magic, stage combat, interesting tidbits about magic through the ages, and even a bit of singing...so unique even in the realm of magic show performances. We were told this show, created and performed by the energetic and talented Naathan Phan and Hayden Allcorn, was in it's debut run, and hopefully will continue to entertain audiences across the country.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 6 April 2024
- summerfish1971Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania95 contributionsLiberty Magic, The History of Magic, Part 1The History of Magic: Part 1 with Naathan Phan and Hayden Allcorn, was our first trip to Liberty Magic. We live in Pittsburgh and had never been. What a great birthday gift experience. Small intimate theater, the gentlemen did magic, sang and were comedic. Loved every moment of this show as did my husband and mother in law. Highly recommend going to this show. We hope eventually there will be a part 2!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- NancyEllen dBethel Park, Pennsylvania1 contributionWonderful Experience at History of Magic Part 1What a wonderful way to celebrate Mother's Day weekend. It was everything the description promised and then some. Magic, singing, comedy, and satire. We laughed so hard. Phan and Allcorn have a great chemistry. The venue is amazingly intimate. The whole family had a great time. We hope there will be a History of Magic Part 2. Thank youVisited May 2024Travelled with familyWritten 12 May 2024
- fksimonMalvern, Pennsylvania35 contributionsMy Jaw was on the Floor the Whole Time!We were in the Pittsburg area and saw "Henok Negash in Meant to Be". What a fantastic show! Henok was amazing! My jaw was on the floor the whole time. Not only did Henok do great magic, but there was story telling and sweet emotion during the show. Just outstanding! I may have to fly to Chicago to see Henok again! The show venue was very quaint, no bad seat in the house and decorated uniquely. I DEFINITELY will return here if I am in the Pittsburg area again. I have been telling all of my friends about this place! ;)Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 August 2024
- Janie P34 contributionsMagic! (pardon the pun:)We didn't plan to visit this place but found it walking past and spotted a board advertising a live magic show. The space was intimate, well sized and the show was fantastic. Staff were friendly and the reception space and shop front are really cool and well thought out. Ticket price was fair and I'd highly recommend it to locals or tourists (like us) ..Visited November 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 November 2024

A friend and I went to Liberty Magic last night to see Lee Terbosic perform his magic show In Plain Sleight . It was an incredible show. He has an amazing ability to connect with the audience, and of course, his magic is outstanding! It was a lot of fun I highly recommend the more expensive backstage option on the tickets which gives you front row seats and the chance to meet with Lee after the show. You’ll have the chance to learn more about his life and hear stories about his adventures performing for stars during his career.

What an incredible night out with a terrific comedic and magical experience with the family! Truly world-class quality magic act with well curated magic, comfortable seats, and great availability for tickets. Easily accessible being located on liberty Avenue and directly across from a parking garage making it easy to access for anyone. Located near many restaurants as well. This particular event was a BYOB performance. be sure to check for other possible performance opportunities to watch because they change several times a year with act running several weeks at a time. Be sure to purchase VIP seats. The after show time with the magicians is well worth the extra cost.

Liberty Magic is an intimate theater venue featuring up-close performances by professional magicians. The beautiful lobby areas of the theater are a museum of colorful artifacts of the magician’s craft - lots to look at!
There are weekend workshops for kids interested in learning some secrets of a magician’s art, as well as amazing 70-90 minute shows by new performers each month.
I recommend reservations for the limited seating at any Liberty Magic show. I found the theater design to be very family friendly with clear sight lines from every seat in the room.
Purchasing a Skeleton Key gets you access to a more personal meet & greet with the magician after the show! I enjoyed that open Q&A time very much!
I absolutely recommend checking out the schedule of magicians performing & show times at Liberty Magic in the Cultural District of the city. It’s a delightfully new theater experience for everyone who is fascinated by the magical arts!

Magic was great but DO NOT pay the extra $25 for the VIP seats. The information said that the extra $25 per seat would offer an opportunity to be a part of the show. What a disappointment - 1/2 of the people that were selected were in the back rows - what a rip-off! Go to the show but don't bother to pay extra.

Guy Hollingworth's performance of 'Expert at the Card Table' was well worth the money! His blend of story telling and magic kept you entertained throughout the whole performance.
The venue is very small and you feel like you're part of a 'guest experience' rather than just an audience member.
I highly recommend!!

This was the most fun I've had on an evening out in a long time. Derek Hughes was fantastic, but I've heard that all the magic acts are first rate. I loved it so much that I want to take family and friends to experience the awe and joy of Liberty Magic. The venue is intimate and the tickets are affordable. The show lasted 70 minutes, so it is a great addition to an evening out, but won't take up the whole night. Pittsburgh is lucky to have such a unique venue, and I highly recommend that both visitors and residents of Pittsburgh visit Liberty Magic. You will have a great time! Anne

Liberty Magic has REAPPEARED in the Cultural District. Attended the performance of Chris Capehart's Journey of the Master last week. It was opening night, following the shutdown during the Covid pandemic. We were so excited to see that Liberty Magic is open again, and we actual bought season tickets to come and see a new show each month. Chris Capehart's show was amazing and full of wonder. It is so good to see a master magician in such a small intimate space. The safety protocols made my group feel very safe in returning to the theater. At the time we attended, everyone was required to be vaccinated and show your vax card prior to entering, and also wear masks during the show. The performance was 90 minutes and just flew by- it was one of our favorite experiences post-pandemic.

The best magicians are performers, they connect and draw you into a narrative, not just show 'tricks'. Liberty Magic consistently has the finest performers available, each with their on distinct connections to the audience.
Shoot Ogawa does 'sleight of hand', familiar tricks of parlor magic from rings to handkerchiefs. These props are centuries old but his combination of flawless execution and a comfortable, friendly performance make them thoroughly enjoyable.
For anyone who hasn't been to Liberty Magic this would be a perfect show to come and see just how much fun it can be.

Saw Henry Evans in the Enchanted Cards of Buenos Aires last evening. Henry was amazing. I have seen David Copperfield in Las Vegas and I enjoyed his show so much more. Great to see card tricks and slight of hand up close and personal. 1st time there. Can't wait to go back. The venue is fabulous. Even the lobby has so much to see. Mr. Messado was doing a few card tricks in the lobby. Small and intimate performance space. We will be back to see him It is BYOB so we took in a bottle of wine. There is a $5 corkage fee per person. (I think it is worth it) Everyone there was wonderful. A totally great experience. In short...It was magical

Is the seating close together like all the venues in Pittsburgh or is there room to stretch your legs? My husband cannot sit long with knees bent due to a knee replacement. He can no longer go to any of our venues. Hoping this is more spread out.
Written 19 April 2023
The front row has unlimited leg room. Besides, the front row seats offer an additional session after the main show is over. Depending on the magician, it could be the best part of the evening!
