Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went rafting with Ohiopyle Trading Post last week, and the experience was fantastic! The Lower Yough was very low (lowest I've ever seen), but the trip was still a complete blast. Our guide was Ryan, and he was amazing. He was fun, and he expertly guided us through the low river with little trouble. He even had us doing some "expert" moves. This was my teenage kids first time down the river, and he gave them great instruction while making it fun. Ryan also gave us tips on other things to do in the area, and put up with (& laughed along) us being a bit crazy. In addition, he was joking with the other guides, and you can see the great camaraderie they have. We really enjoyed the guides that work with OHP (Marlena gave the speech before and Riley told jokes on the bus ride back; they were great, too).

Due to covid, there was no lunch served as there usually is, but we still stopped at swimmer's rapid. The staff encouraged everyone to enjoy that section outside the boat, and they stood out in the river helping everyone to do it safely. My kids really enjoyed this.

The pictures that they took of us on one of the first rapids were also fantastic! We bought the thumbdrive to get all of them, and it was so worth it to have quality photos taken from outside the boat. The woman at check-in and who sold us the pictures (I think she took them, too) was also friendly & super-helpful. I wish I'd gotten her name to mention her here. She was great.

This was my first trip down the river with OHP, and it won't be my last. I highly recommend them if you're going to tackle the Lower Yough!

Incredible first time whitewater rafting experience. We opted for the easier Lower Yough. Our group ages ranged from 17-62 years old. Mike was our tour guide and he was FANTASTIC. You could tell it was not his first rodeo. He directed us to the most thrilling parts of the river and told us hilarious stories the entire time. He made the experience two thumbs up from everyone on our trip!

Thanks, Chelsea. Mike is one of the more seasoned guides floating on the Yough. I"ll make sure to pass your review along to him. We hope to see you again!

Great company to run the Lower Yough with our family, including 3 teens. Our guide, Keith, was amazing... although we all had whitewater experience before, having the guide was super helpful and made for a more enjoyable trip (strongly recommend paying the little extra to have guide in the boat!!). Can't recommend Ohiopyle Trading Post more highly. Thank you!!

What a wonderful trip we had! We rafted the Lower Yough with a guided group of about 9 rafts. Ohiopyle Trading Post Staff were super helpful in finding the right trip for our group and giving us good information/customer service to be ready to roll on the day of. Yesterday (7/21)...we had a fun day on the river. Our group of 10 ranged in age from 13 - 49 and we all had a fabulous time. The river is quite low...I understand much lower than normal. Our guides worked hard navigating the river and keeping us rolling along. Loved the experience...and we will be back! Thanks Marlena & Emily - you are both fantastic.

My group had a great trip white water rafting down the LY with Scott as our guide. He kept us laughing and guided us through the best sections. He was also very knowledgeable about the river and made us all feel safe. I highly recommend Ohiopyle trading post as the choice for rafting, and if you want to have a good time on your trip I suggest having Scott as your guide!

The water levels were high for our trip, which made it much quicker than advertised--this is probably for the best because it felt like a good amount of time to be on the water.

Only 4 stars because my husband and I originally booked self guided tours and were never told that reservation was canceled because of the water levels. We were just ushered onto a full-sized raft with another family for a fully guided trip. Thankfully we weren't upcharged.

The guide was informative, but was very cautious. This is something we've run into on our last few white water rafting trips, so maybe it's a change in the culture, where guides are trying their best not to risk people going overboard or even getting wet.

Overall, would still recommend.

I was on a fully-guided tour expecting that would ensure a safer trip. Turns out, that was not the case. An unguided raft in front of us got caught up on a rock and we entered the rapids anyway. We hit a rock in the middle of the rapids which knocked me out of the raft and I was trapped underneath the raft. I looked up, and all I could see was the blue bottom of the raft. This was the same rapids where the last drowning had occurred. There is too much confusion trying to keep track of those in the unguided rafts for the guides to even pay attention to those in their own raft. People in the unguided raft behind us kept falling out and our guide had to keep watching out for them through the entire trip. Luckily, my family members were looking for me and could see my arm and pulled me back in. I have one nasty bruise on my arm in the shape of a handprint where I was grabbed. People ask me what happened, so I tell them. If people want to go unguided, that should be on them. We all know the risks and we make the choice of whether or not to have a guide based on how well we believe we can handle those risks. I paid extra so I would have a guide and that guide's attention was on those who didn't think they needed one. And because of that, I was under the raft, in the rapids, and my guide had no clue. And those who choose to go without a guide to save a few bucks and are not capable of going it alone, put everyone else's lives at risk.

Had an amazing adventure with Riley on the Lower Yough. He was skilled on the water, knowledgeable about the area, patient with all the questions and comments our group of 4; 60-something ladies had, in addition to clearly enjoying rafting and being a guide. Any fears we had at the beginning of our trip soon faded away and we're looking forward to rafting the rapids again next year.

This was our second trip with this outfitter. Our guide Rob really took care of us. He knew we wanted a more adventurous trip and he came through. He had the kids on the front of the raft 'riding the bull', he spun the raft around like an amusement park ride, and even put us in a rapid where we could surf the raft....Not to mention we spent extra time at the rock jumping area. Great trip again.

Our family of six had a great time with our guide, Riley. He was knowledgeable and funny, and he kept us safe and sound through an always exciting, sometimes relaxing, very enjoyable ride. He was very patient with our younger kids (three 12-year-olds) and the rookie grown-ups. We'll definitely be back!
